Girls' Generation (Korean: 소녀시대; Sonyeo Shidae son-yoh shi-day) is a nine-member South Korean pop idol girl group formed by S.M. Entertainment in 2007. They are known in Japan as Shoujo Jidai (Japanese: 少女時代) and are referred to as SoShi (소시) or SNSD by their fans, both abbreviated forms of the group's Korean name, Sonyeo Shidae. The group consists of Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun.

They sold over 100,000 copies for each of their six Korean releases, making them the first female group in the South Korean music industry to do so in over six years.

They gained attention at the beginning of their career with songs such as "Into The New World", "Kissing You" and "Baby Baby".

However, it was not until 2009, they gained immense popularity with their hit single "Gee", which holds the record for being the longest-running number one song on KBS Music Bank, having held the number one chart ranking for nine consecutive weeks, tying with Psy's "Gangnam Style". "Gee" was named 'song of the decade' by the Korean music site, Melon. The group solidified their place in the Korean music industry with follow-up singles "Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)", "Run Devil Run", and "Oh!".

SNSD recently proved their high popularity in Japan.

On November 8, SNSD topped the daily chart on the Recochoku, the biggest mobile ringtone site in Japan, with “Flower Power,” the lead track of their new album, Girls’ Generation II: Girls & Peace.

The chart counts total numbers of downloads of songs from online MP3 stores. SNSD have topped the chart with “Oh” and “Mr. Taxi.”

Park Jae-sang (Korean: 박재상, 朴載相; born December 31, 1977), better known by his stage name PSY (Korean: 싸이, IPA: [s͈ai]; English: /ˈsaɪ/ sy), is a South Korean singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer, and record producer. He is well known for his humorous videos and stage performances, and for his hit single "Gangnam Style".

PSY has appeared on numerous television programs, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Extra, Good Sunday: X-Man, The Golden Fishery, The Today Show, Saturday Night Live, Sunrise, and The X-Factor.

On October 23, 2012, PSY met U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the United Nations Headquarters where Ban expressed his desire to work with PSY. He remarked that PSY has an "unlimited global reach" and commented "I hope that we can work together using your global reach"

In July 2012, PSY released his 6th album PSY's Best 6th Part 1 and the song "Gangnam Style" appeared in broadcasting networks and newspapers outside Asia. On August 14, "Gangnam Style" ranked first on YouTube's 'Most Viewed Videos' monthly chart; it has received over 600 million views on YouTube.

On August 21, 2012, Gangnam Style officially charted #1 on the iTunes Music Video Charts, overtaking Justin Bieber's "As Long as You Love Me" and Katy Perry's "Wide Awake"; this feat is the first for any South Korean artist. After Psy's Gangnam Style music video went viral, celeb land quickly jumped on board, with Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Robbie Williams and Tom Cruise taking to Twitter to share their delight.

The Gangnam Style phenomenon has also popularized his older music videos, such as "Right Now."On September 14, 2012, he appeared on The Today Show on NBC in New York City, performing the song live and teaching dance moves to the anchors. The following day, he also made a cameo appearance on Saturday Night Live during a skit featuring "Gangnam Style."

Psy has recently been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

On November 8, the Guinness Book of World Records reported that Psy has recently been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the music video of “Gangnam Style” has received the most number of Likes on YouTube.

Super Junior recently topped three weekly charts on the Oricon.

Super Junior topped the Daily Chart, the Weekly DVD Chart, the Weekly DVD Music Chart, and the Blu-ray Disc Chart on the Oricon with the DVD and Blu-ray Disc of Super Junior World Tour: Super Show 4 Live in Japan, released on October 31.

Super Junior are the first foreign male artists to top the Weekly DVD Chart, the Weekly DVD Music Chart, and the Blu-ray Disc Chart on the Oricon.

Super Junior (Korean: 슈퍼주니어; Syupeo Junieo) is a popular South Korean idol group. Formed in 2005 by producer Lee Soo-man of SM Entertainment, the group comprised a total of thirteen members at its peak. Super Junior originally debuted with twelve members, consisting of leader Leeteuk, Heechul, Han Geng, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook and Kibum.

Kyuhyun joined the group in 2006.

Super Junior launched into international recognition following the release of their best-selling single "Sorry, Sorry" in 2009, the title song of their most critically successful album Sorry, Sorry. The group has released and contributed to over 20 records with varying degrees of success, and was the best-selling K-pop artist for three years in a row.

Super Junior 6th Album Sexy, Free & Single managed to rank high in iTunes in several countries including Australia, France and Peru and Japan. It also ranked 3rd on Billboard World Albums.

The album debuted at #1 on the South Korean Gaon Chart, selling 335,744 copies in only one month. Staying on the chart as #1 for three weeks in a row, 459,182 copies have been sold in only two months (July - August).

Furthermore, Sexy, Free & Single also debuted at #1 on "Hanteo Chart" with more than 200,000 copies being sold with the Version A, selling over 160,000, and Version B, selling over 40,000. year. Super Junior ranked #1 on Hanteo's "Top 5 K-Pop Artists" for January–September 2012. Note: Gaon and Hanteo are different charts, Gaon counts all stores in South Korea while Hanteo only counts its official stores.
