It also gives 1 percent cash back on all international spend and 0.3 percent on local transactions, with a total monthly cashback cap of Php 1,000 to be credited weekly to the user’s pandapay wallet. These features bring real-time value to one of today’s most popular digital lifestyles.

“This partnership brings together three brands that drive convenience, value, and digital innovation,” said Jerry Ngo, Chief Executive Officer of EastWest. “At EastWest, we continue to build financial solutions around real daily habits. The EastWest foodpanda Visa Credit Card is another way we make banking easier, turning every meal into a moment of value.”

Built on a shared goal of creating connected experiences, the card is designed to simplify how customers pay, order, and enjoy their everyday essentials. It also streamlines everyday spending with automatic weekly cashback.

Every new cardholder gets a waived annual fee for the first year, and the first 50,000 approved applicants unlock six months of free pandapro membership plus exclusive vouchers for extra rewards.

Promoting Teacher Wellness Through APT

In a bid to care for the country’s educators, EWRB rolled out the APT program once again. It offered free medical checkups such as CBC, urinalysis, and chest X-rays to DepEd teachers and non-teaching staff. The program also included financial literacy and cybersecurity sessions to help participants protect both their health and finances.

“This initiative shows how we live out our core value, ‘I Respond,’” said Sheila Marasigan Bajado, President of EastWest Rural Bank. “We recognize that to uplift education, we must also take care of the people behind it.”

The program was officially rolled out during the Brigada Eskwela National and Regional Kick-Offs, with over 600 DepEd personnel served at the national level and an estimated 3,000 more nationwide throughout the week-long campaign.

EWRB in Action: Beautifying Schools Nationwide

Simultaneously, EastWest Rural Bank’s “EWRB in Action” initiative extended tangible classroom support by distributing beautification materials, school supplies, and mobilizing employee volunteers to aid in school preparation.

Aligned with the 2025 Brigada Eskwela theme, “Sama-sama para sa Bayang Bumabasa,” the program benefited 846 public schools across the country through donations of paint, restoration tools, and on-ground assistance. Wellness booths and giveaways further strengthened EWRB’s engagement with local communities.

“Their presence in the field brings meaningful impact to the schools and learners they serve,” said Davedinah “Dove” Cometa, Project Development Officer III at the DepEd Central Office – External Partnerships Service.

Shared Impact, Shared Purpose

EastWest Rural Bank’s Brigada Eskwela efforts reached all regions. The programs offered health services and classroom support, with each one focused on meeting the specific needs of schools and teachers in practical ways.

Dr. Jinky B. Firman, Schools Division Superintendent in Panabo City, where both programs were conducted, commended the initiative: “We deeply appreciate EastWest Rural Bank’s support for our teachers, not only through health and financial wellness programs, but also by providing much-needed supplies for our schools. The help they extended was timely and truly meaningful.”

“It’s a privilege to support our public school teachers and students as they prepare for a new school year,” added Hera Duka, EWRB’s Sustainability Champion. “We focus on providing real, practical help through health services, classroom support, or other specific needs identified by each school.”

The EastWest Milers, the Bank’s official running club made up of employees from various teams and fitness levels, joined the launch. Carrying the shared spirit of the EastWest Dream Run, they led warm-up drills for members of the press and brought energy to the gathering ahead of race day.

Following the turnout in Davao and Cebu, which drew a combined total of over 6,000 runners and already exceeded expectations for a first-time series, EastWest now turns to Manila to gather another strong crowd. This final leg is expected to carry the same energy: people coming together, showing up for their goals, and being part of something that feels both personal and collective.

A Race for Every Runner

The EastWest Dream Run is designed for all types of runners. Categories include:

• 1K Dog Run for fur parents and their pets
• 2K Kids Category designed for young runners and families
• 5K and 10K for casual joggers or those working on a new personal best
• 30K Challenge introduced in honor of EastWest’s 30th Anniversary

Each participant receives a premium race kit that includes a limited-edition singlet, race bib, and loot bag. Finishers are awarded a dreamcatcher-inspired medal, while those completing the 30K receive an exclusive finisher’s shirt.

Beyond the Finish Line

The Dream Run Village offers a vibrant space with music, food stalls, wellness booths, and interactive experiences for both runners and their supporters. A portion of event proceeds will go toward EastWest’s community initiatives, giving the run a deeper sense of purpose.

“In Davao and Cebu, we saw all kinds of participants. Some were running their first kilometer, while others completed all 30. Each one showed up with a reason, and that shared sense of purpose is what gives the series its meaning. It's a rare kind of spirit, and one the Bank is proud to help bring to life,” said Martin Reyes, EastWest Head of Marketing.

Coach Rio dela Cruz of RUNRIO, a trusted name in the Philippine running community, is once again leading the event. “There’s a genuine sense of heart behind the Dream Run. It’s designed with thought, it’s inclusive, and you can feel how personal the experience is for many runners,” he said. “Iba talaga ‘yung pakiramdam when you’re running not just for yourself, but alongside an entire community. I believe the Manila leg of the EastWest Dream Run will bring out something truly special.”

Participants can stay updated by following @EastWestBanker on Facebook, where the Bank will share event details, race tips, and other announcements leading up to June 15, 2025.

Ms. Jackie Fernandez, EastWest President, welcomed guests by emphasizing that EastWest’s role goes beyond providing financial solutions. She shared that the evening was designed not just as a culinary showcase, but as a way to thank clients for their trust and to celebrate the relationships that have shaped the Bank’s journey.

The program featured celebrated Peruvian chef Arturo Melendrez, Head Chef of Samba, who treated the audience to a live ceviche demonstration, inviting guests onstage to roll up their sleeves and immerse themselves in the flavors of Latin America.

Dinner was a showcase of culinary craftsmanship led by Chef Carlo Huerta, Executive Sous Chef of Shangri-La The Fort. Drawing from his training at Le Cordon Bleu and deep Peruvian roots, Chef Carlo curated a multi-course dining experience that paired bold flavors with elegant presentation, set to the rhythm of live samba music.

From there, guests were whisked into cocktail hour, where Samba’s Beverage Manager Arlie Gole shared the secrets of crafting the perfect Pisco Sour, balancing technique, tradition, and storytelling in every pour.

Staying true to the evening’s spirit of ease and thoughtful experiences, Ms. Ivy Uy, Head of EastWest’s Branch Banking Group, shared updates on how EastWest is making everyday banking simpler and more convenient for clients. She also reintroduced the Bank’s refreshed online platforms, EasyWay for individuals and EasyBiz for businesses which have been receiving strong customer feedback. Uy closed by mentioning new partnerships and promotions designed to make financial transactions even more rewarding and seamless.

This was followed by remarks from Mr. Rafael Algarra Jr., Head of Financial Markets and Wealth Management, who spoke about the importance of personal relationships in EastWest’s approach. He emphasized the dedication of the Bank’s Store Managers and Priority Relationship Managers, noting that their care truly sets EastWest apart. Algarra also shared that EastWest was recently recognized as the Best Private Bank in the Philippines by Global Finance Magazine and awarded Best in Discretionary Portfolio Management by Euromoney Private Banking, saying that achievements like these continue to drive EastWest to offer the best in banking, service, and innovation.

As a token of appreciation, guests received cocktail shakers and personalized recipe booklets. These small touches captured the spirit of care and thoughtfulness that ran throughout the evening. The gathering built on the messages shared by EastWest’s leaders: the importance of creating enriching experiences, making everyday banking more seamless, and strengthening the relationships that define the Bank’s story. Held as part of EastWest’s 30th Anniversary, it served as a meaningful tribute to the milestones achieved and the future the Bank continues to shape with its clients.

The much-anticipated launch event held last April 3, 2025 at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, brought together executives from EastWest and Puregold, media representatives, and industry leaders to celebrate a winning partnership aimed at delivering unparalleled value and always going further for Filipino consumers nationwide.

“This card is a collaboration between EastWest and Puregold that delivers practical, real-world benefits. It turns regular grocery runs into opportunities to earn cash rebates, which can be converted into Puregold P-Wallet credits, helping cardholders stretch their budgets while enjoying the ease of cashless payments. This partnership is rooted in the shared goal of serving real Filipino households. Something Puregold has done for years by being a dependable part of their everyday routines,” shared Jerry Ngo, EastWest CEO, during his opening speech.

The EastWest Puregold Always Panalo Visa Credit Card turns every checkout into a win. With its industry leading Php30 is to 1 rewards point conversion for purchases at Puregold and Php100 is to 1 rewards point for all other transactions, grocery shopping and everyday spending become even more rewarding. Cardholders can also accumulate up to Php 3,000 in their Puregold P-Wallet monthly when they convert their rewards points at a 1 Rewards Point to Php1 conversion rate—ensuring more savings with every purchase.

The launch event featured a ceremonial card unveiling, a media roundtable discussion led by key executives, and activities that kept the energy high throughout the celebration. A specially produced jingle for the EastWest Puregold Always Panalo Visa Credit Card was also introduced and will be played in Puregold stores nationwide.

“The EastWest Puregold Always Panalo Visa Credit Card maximizes every peso spent, making shopping for the family more rewarding. For every transaction brings you closer to bigger savings and exclusive perks,” said Lawrence Lee, EastWest EVP and Head of Consumer Lending Cluster.

The event was also yet another perfect milestone during EastWest’s 30-year anniversary celebration, marking three decades of going further for Filipinos by introducing innovative banking solutions that empower customers to achieve more.

The EastWest Puregold Always Panalo Visa Credit Card is now available for application, allowing shoppers to experience a more rewarding way to pay. Consumers can visit any Puregold branch nationwide or go to https://ewbank.cc/puregold-eng to apply and start enjoying the exclusive perks.

With his exceptional rise in the field, Yulo has made a significant mark on the global stage, representing the Philippines worldwide. His dedication to his art and commitment to excellence align perfectly with EastWest’s values of pushing boundaries and striving for greatness. Just as Carlos Yulo excels as a world-class athlete, EastWest offers world-class services, always going further to empower Filipinos with the financial tools and guidance they need to achieve their dreams.

Kaya this partnership comes in so natural sa kin, pareho kaming may relentless drive na magtuloy tuloy hanggang makamit namin ang dreams namin.”

A Partnership Built on Shared Values

The event highlighted the distinct connection between Yulo and EastWest. From simply being a customer, he is now the face of the brand. His discipline, perseverance, and focus on the mastery of his craft, evidenced by his rigorous training, is mirrored by the Bank — persistently supporting clients’ financial journeys to ensure that they can confidently pursue their own goals.

EastWest SEVP and Head of Financial Markets and Wealth Management, Rafael S. Algarra Jr., expressed the significance of the partnership, stating, “Carlos Yulo represents the dedication and passion that EastWest stands for. His journey from having raw potential to being a world champion reflects the same path we aim to provide for our clients—guiding them toward financial success, whether through our Priority services, consumer loans, or investment management. We believe this partnership exemplifies our service commitment—always pushing further for our clients so they can achieve their goals.”

Carlos Yulo's Inspiring Financial Journey

Yulo’s partnership with the Bank also highlights his personal journey of financial growth and empowerment. He started with basic banking products to save and pay for expenses while training and competing.  As his financial capacity grew, he relied on the help of a dedicated EastWest Priority Relationship Manager to give him financial advice. With guidance, Yulo transitioned into investments, ensuring that his earnings were wisely managed, while he focused on training. Yulo shared, “Si EastWest po talaga has been so helpful in my journey—not just as an athlete, but also in managing my finances. Tinulungan po nila ako maging smart sa financial decisions ko and magkaroon ng solid financial plan and dahil dito, naka focus ako sa training and competitions ko. Nung nagsimula akong kumita, hindi ko talaga alam kung paano i-manage ng maayos ang pera ko. I had deposit accounts and a credit card with EastWest. Pero na-realize ko na kailangan ko ng mas malalim na understanding para mapalago yung pinaghirapan ko. Buti na lang, EastWest Priority assigned me a relationship manager who really guided me. Siya ang nagturo sa akin about investments and how I can grow my savings para I’m financially prepared.”

While embracing innovation and adapting to the evolving needs of their clients, EastWest ensures that they never lose the human touch, balancing cutting-edge solutions with the warmth and care that have always defined their approach.

EastWest CEO Jerry Ngo shares, "Carlos Yulo embodies resilience, focus, and the pursuit of excellence—values EastWest has upheld for the last 30 years. As we continue to innovate and grow, we proudly welcome Carlos as a partner who not only stands for athletic success but also a commitment to smart financial growth. Together, we aim to inspire Filipinos to push their boundaries and achieve their financial dreams with EastWest by their side."
