VIVA International Pictures proudly presents “Adrift”, an incredible true story about the resilience of the human spirit and the transcendent power of love. Based on the book by Tami Oldham Ashcraft.

Filled with romance and excitement, they never anticipated to be sailing directly into a hurricane that whips up 40-foot waves and 140-knot winds, making it one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history.

In the aftermath of the storm, Tami awakens to a dilapidated boat, with Richard nowhere in sight. Panic-stricken, she tries to radio for help and put the boat back in order. By some miracle, she finds Richard in the waters, badly injured. With no hope for rescue, Tami must find the strength and determination to save herself and the man she can’t see herself living without.

Taking the role of Tami is Shailene Woodley (The Fault in our Stars / Divergent), while Richard is played by Sam Claflin (Me Before You / The Hunger Games).

Aaron Kandell (Walt Disney’s Moana), one of the movie’s screenwriters, reveals that he and his twin brother Jordan wrote the story with Woodley in mind. When they visited Tami Oldham in her home in the San Juan Islands, they instantly saw her strength and her free spirit, and she reminded them so much of Woodley whom they’ve known since her role in “The Descendants”.

“So as soon as we finished (the script), she was the first person we sent it to,” Jordan adds.

Woodley says, “I was so captivated by it, by who Tami is and the love story. I really felt the energy of the divine soulmate connection between Tami and her fiancée, Richard. A swimmer, but not at all a pro in sailing, the actress spent about a month before production in Hawaii learning how to sail on all different types of boats."

Claflin bagged the role of Richard after a phone call with the acclaimed director Baltasar Kormakur (Everest, The Oath) convinced him that he was “totally right for the role”.

Woodley and Claflin rehearsed together for two weeks in Fiji prior to principal photography.

“It was so helpful…We really just clicked,” says Woodley about her co-star, whom she further describes as “hands down, the hardest-working, most generous, compassionate individual” she’s ever worked with. Woodley continues, “The elements that we were working in were not easy, shooting on a boat in open water for 14 hours. Never once did he complain.”

Today, Ashcraft lives on San Juan Island off the coast of Washington, where she still sails regularly. Though she still carries the memory of her experience and her fiancé with her every day, she’s gotten married, has two children, and is the picture of happiness. The only sign of her trauma is a tiny sextant pendant, encrusted with a diamond, which she wears every day.

About midway into production, Tami herself visited set, making the cast feel that she truly embraced this film. “It was amazing to meet her finally but also, I was hyper-aware of how emotional this experience must be for her, the trauma of being stuck out at sea. My prayer is that she has found healing as well through this experience,” Woodley says.

“One of the first things she said to me was, ‘You remind me of him (Richard) so much,’ which was really a special moment for me,” notes Claflin. “Having her seal of approval was so important.”

“Adrift” filmed for 49 days, primarily on location in Fiji, with a few weeks on stage in New Zealand.

Special thanks to Viva International Pictures for inviting us at the advance screening of "Adrift" at Robinsons Galleria. It was a film that gave me 50% terror while I was watching it because it all flashback to me all the travel I did in the past where we need to ride a boat for island hopping and one of the most challenging travel I experienced was when we went to Balabac, Palawan. The waves were really huge and a storm was about to him the country that time, good thing our boatmen were really experienced and they did everything just to make our trip worth while and we were safe, I was praying all the time that we will arrive at our destination safe and sound.

This film is very inspiring and it will the viewers hope and courage to always rely on yourself no matter what happens. At times that we can depend on no one else but ourselves, we should always be strong enough to withstand trials coming our way.

Ella Cruz & Donnalyn Bartolome stars in a suspense-thriller film CRY NO FEAR by Richard Somes

VIVA Films is on a roll in producing must-see movies, and “CRY NO FEAR”, the suspense-thriller that’s coming out in cinemas this June 20 is one of them.

Present during the Grand Press Conference of the film "Cry No Fear" were the two lead stars Donnalyn Bartolome and Ella Cruz together with their acclaimed director Richard Somes.

Donnalyn and Ella shared their respective roles in the movie and their experience as well.

Ella Cruz and Donnalyn Bartolome take the lead roles of antagonistic half-sisters Wendy and Kaycee. Their father (Lito Pimentel) is well aware that the two cannot stand each other, but he has to leave them at home together for three days, in the company of their nanny Dory (Sheree).

In the middle of a raging storm, the tension at home is amplified by unwanted guests begging for food and medicine. The sisters drive the strangers away, but their safety is already compromised. They find themselves in the hands of ruthless intruders (Lander Vera Perez, Christopher Roxas, Patricia Javier) who will not think twice about killing them.

For once in their lives, Wendy and Kaycee must unite to escape.

Ella and Donnalyn also shared their experience on doing a more "physical" film, they mostly did their stunts and according to them, most of the scenes were really draining and Donnalyn even had a near death experience in this film. It was so challenging that this film is very memorable for both the lead stars.

Directed by Richard V. Somes, who got his first directorial break in one of the segments of “Shake, Rattle & Roll”, “CRY NO FEAR” will show the usually perky Ella and Donnalyn in a different light. Though fans have already seen them act terrified in the 2017 horror movie “Darkroom”, this time, they will see them act all nasty, which is a far cry from Ella’s previous roles, just like in the movie “Fangirl, Fanboy”, and Donnalyn’s roles in various movies and TV series.

Both actresses shared that working together in this film has definitely brought them closer. “Para kaming magkapatid, minus the away,” Donnalyn said on VIVA TV’s Anong Ganap. Ella remarked, “Mas nagkaroon kami ng bonding and sharing ng mga bagay-bagay.”

One thing that these talented artists share is their passion for singing and dancing. Ella is known for her trending dance videos on YouTube, earning her the title “Millennial Dance Princess”. Donnalyn, who started out as an internet sensation known for writing her own songs, is aptly called “Social Media Sweetheart”.

But as Wendy and Kaycee on “CRY NO FEAR”, these girls are no sweethearts and can very well be princesses of terror.

Discover the dark side of Los Angeles where cops and robbers go head-to-head in Gerard Butler’s latest action thriller movie, DEN OF THIEVES.

Set in contemporary Los Angeles, DEN OF THIEVES is a crime saga which follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of the Regulators, an elite unit of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department; and the Outlaws, the state’s most successful bank robbery crew.

The Regulators is led by alpha dog “Big Nick” O’Brien played by Gerard Butler (Olympus Has Fallen, 300). He’s a hard-drinking career detective who will stop at nothing to put an end to the Outlaws’ crime spree. The Outlaws is led by the icy and calm Ray Merriman played by Pablo Schreiber (13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Orange is the New Black). The Outlaws operate with military precision, meticulous planning, and employ subject matter expertise – all skills acquired from military special ops service and prison stints.

After taunting the authorities for years with increasingly ambitious unsolved robberies, Outlaws leader Merriman sets his sights on the ultimate heist: infiltrating the Los Angeles branch of the Federal Reserve and steal $30 million of unfit U.S. currency being taken out of circulation before it can be shredded and destroyed. They plan to steal money that nobody is looking for.

Meanwhile, The Regulators starts a tense game of cat and mouse as they work to tie the Outlaws to a string of unsolved heists and anticipate their next move. In a series of escalating confrontations, it soon becomes apparent that neither side plays by traditional rules, and there are no heroes or villains in the intricate face off. In the end, it’s an explosive battle between equally-matched opposites, reaching a thrilling, and entirely unexpected climax.

DEN OF THIEVES is written and directed by Christian Gudegast, the brilliant writer of the worldwide smash hit “London Has Fallen.” He was reading “Where the Money Is,” a nonfiction book about how Los Angeles became the bank robbery capital of the world, when he saw a photo in the Los Angeles Times; the photo, taken at the Federal Reserve Bank, was of a massive tub of money. The photo and the book sparked an idea, and Gudegast wrote the story that would eventually become the basis for the screenplay.

He was particularly drawn to the complex relationships between professional bank robbers and the detectives who hunt them. “I was fascinated by the specificity of their worlds,” says Gudegast, “and how these two crews operate. Understanding what they do, and why they do it, became the fuel for the movie.”

The film also stars Evan Jones, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson. This film also marks the directorial debut of screenwriter and producer Christian Gudegast (London Has Fallen).

Sam Milby and Yassi Pressman pairs up in Ang Pambansang Third Wheel showing on March 7!

Yassi Pressman and Sam Milby reunite in “Ang Pambansang Third Wheel”, a romantic comedy movie produced by VIVA Films and The IdeaFirst Company.

Yassi plays Trina, a receptionist turned copywriter in an advertising agency. She has a very active imagination and believes that every person is destined to meet someone that will keep her or him company in this life’s journey. Already in her 30s, Trina is yet to find that one person for her. She’s had her heart broken thrice, and has long accepted the awkward status of being a third wheel to her dating friends. She swears she won’t fall for a guy until she’s sure that he meets her standards.

Yassi shares the meaning of being a "third wheel" which is also the title of the movie.

Sam plays Neo, an art director who gets partnered with Trina in an advertising project. Beyond his good looks, Trina finds something in him that makes her break down the wall she’s built to protect her heart. Neo admits that he has loved three women, but his revelation about having an 8-year-old son devastates Trina. To make matters worse, the boy’s mother still makes her presence felt.

Sam Milby shared how he enjoys doing movies with Viva Films, he has done several movies with Viva and the latest was Camp Sawi. He couldn't say no to this project since he loves the script and it's also his chance to finally work with Yassi Pressman.

Sam also shared that he enjoyed working with Yassi since he really wanted to work with her even before, he even shared that he has a crush on Yassi saying that Yassi is very beautiful and talented and that she very well do a lead role anytime.

Since Sam shared that he has a crush on Yassi, the big question is, what is he waiting for? will he be starting to court Yassi anytime soon?

Now third-wheeling between Neo and his son, does Trina stand a chance of being Neo’s “Only One”?

Playing the role of Murphy, the attention-seeking son of Neo, is Alonzo Muhlach, while Monica, Neo’s ex-wife, is played by Sam Pinto.

Directed by Ivan Andrew Payawal, “Ang Pambansang Third Wheel” is getting positive reactions from netizens because of its storyline and the chemistry between the lead stars who both starred in the movie Camp Sawi.

In explaining Yassi's character, Director Payawal said,"Gusto niya s’ya iyong priority pero dahil in-accept n’ya itong lalaki na ito sa buhay n’ya, kailangan n’yang mag-adjust."

Sam is coming off the success of "Doble Kara," an afternoon soap on ABS-CBN that ran for more than year, while Yassi is currently enjoying her role as Alyannain "Ang Probinsyano," the no. 1 teleserye on Philippine Primetime TV.

Just recently, Pressman and Milby leveled up the public’s excitement as they were caught giving free hugs around the metro.

This time, Director Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo talks about the thing that comes with love, but no one wants to really talk about: COMMITMENT.

Mr. and Mrs. Cruz is the story of Raffy and Gela who went on a vacation to spend time in Palawan, but instead found themselves enjoying each other's company. As they spend more time together, their unconventional love story begins and flourishes. But soon enough, trouble in paradise arises as their views in love, commitment and marriage clash. Will they see it through the end together? Once again, Director Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo creates a masterpiece that will git the heart and hit reality.

Mr. and Mrs. Cruz boasts of its stellar casts JC Santos and Ryza Cenon. It is the first time for JC and Ryza to pair up on screen, but the chemistry between the two stars in uncannily undeniable. Direk Sigrid shared how JC and Ryza ended up doing the film.

JC Santos played the role of Fidel in the 2017 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino top-grossing film, "100 Tula Para Kay Stella", opposite Primetime TV Gem Bela Padilla. His role as Ali in ABS-CBN's Primetime teleserye "Till I Met You" has made himTV's newest sensation.

Ryza Cenon on the other hand is one versatile actress, whose acting career blossomed in 2017 via the romance-horror film, "Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B". Her portrayal of Georgia in GMA-7's teleserye "IKA-6 na Utos" is considered to be her breakthrough role, earning for her a Best Supporting Actress nomination in the 2017 EdukCircle Awards.

This was the first time both JC and Ryza worked together in a film, they shared how their working relationship is on and off cam and how professional each other is when it comes to work and on the set.

JC and Ryza also shared that they also prepared their bodies for some of the scenes in Mr. and Mrs. Cruz. Since most of the scenes will be shot in the beach, they need to showcase their sexy bodies although Direk Sigrid mentioned that the main cast doesn't really need to have a sexy body, still, both Ryza and JC were conscious of what they will look like in the big screen wearing their swimming attire.

Ryza and JC also shared their experience on working for the first time with the box office director, both of them said that she is very detailed when it comes to the scenes and at the same time she is also very cool to work with.

Mr. and Mrs. Cruz which was shot entirely in the picturesque and breathtaking island of El Nido, Palwan will bring all kinds of mood and vibes on screen, that will send the audience on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Add to that the heart-tugging soundtrack performed by the hit group, The Juans and Nicole Omillo titled "Istorya" and "Before I Let You Go" originally by Freestyle.

Shooting the film was a challenge though. "Literal na buwis buhay" said Director Sigrid. In one of their shooting days, the team almost got trapped in an exclusive beach where they filmed some of the scenes of the movie. "Sobrang cill lang kami. Nagkakantahan pa in between shots, not knowing na super high tide na pala sa labas ng exclusive beach kung saan kami nag shoot. Bago kasi makarating doon sa beach, kailngan mo muna pumasok sa isang cave. Sinabihan na lang kami ng tourist guide namin na kailngan na namin lumabas dahil malakas na ulan at mataas na tubig sa labas. So, paglabas namin ramdam na namin ang taas ng tubig, kailangan mong sumisid para makalabas ka."
