Yasmine Vargas Files Cyber Libel Case Against Rob Sy’s Partner, Backed by Husband Alfred Vargas

Yasmine Vargas, wife of actor and Quezon City District 5 Councilor Alfred Vargas (right), filed 20 counts of cyber libel against Juvelle Bacosa, partner of actor Rob Sy, at the Quezon City Hall of Justice on April 20, 2026.

Posted on her social media account, "In recent days, our family has been in the spotlight after we made the difficult decision to stand up for our son.

I am deeply thankful for the messages of support we’ve received, as well as the sincere questions from those who wish to understand what happened. I would like to respond with clarity and respect.

Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagpadala ng dasal, suporta, at pagmamahal sa amin. Sa totoo lang, ito po ang nagpapalakas sa aming pamilya sa gitna ng pinagdadaanan namin.

For those who know me, you would understand that I am naturally shy and reserved, and not someone who looks for conflict. We tried to handle this quietly and peacefully—para sa kapakanan ng aming mga anak, na dumaan na sa matinding sakit at trauma.

But there comes a point when silence is no longer an option.

Bilang isang ina, hindi ko po kayang manahimik habang patuloy na nasasaktan ang aking anak at pamilya.

Kaya pinili naming magsalita—hindi dahil gusto naming makipagtalo, kundi dahil mahal namin ang aming mga anak. Para sa kanila, at para sa lahat ng batang nakakaranas ng bullying, naninindigan kami.

Today, I filed 20 counts of cyber libel.

Nalulungkot po ako na umabot pa sa ganito. Sinubukan naming idaan sa maayos na pag-uusap noong Pebrero, ngunit sa halip, nagpatuloy ang mga posts sa social media na naglalaman ng maling paratang laban sa akin, sa aking asawa, at sa aming pamilya—even after we chose to remain silent.

Hindi na po ito maaaring magpatuloy.

These claims are false and are meant to damage our name and reputation.

Pinili naming dumaan sa tamang proseso. Nagsampa na po kami ng reklamo at kalakip nito ang aming ebidensya. Tiwala po kami na lalabas ang katotohanan.

Sa lahat ng sumusuporta, nagdarasal, at naniniwala sa amin—maraming salamat. Hindi po namin ito kakayanin nang kami lang.

Alfred and Yasmine had earlier filed a complaint for violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination) against Rob and Juvelle at the Manila Prosecutor’s Office last Monday, April 13, 2026.

The cyber libel complaint filed by Yasmine stemmed from alleged online posts by Juvelle from April 14 to 17, which came to the attention of Alfred’s wife.

In her complaint affidavit, Yasmine stated that Juvelle allegedly repeatedly posted defamatory content on social media against her and her family after they filed their initial complaint.
