Turning purpose into action: FWD Philippines and JA Philippines drive community rebuilding in Cebu

Monday, January 26, 2026

FWD Life Insurance (FWD Philippines), in partnership with Junior Achievement of the Philippines (JA Philippines), supported post-disaster recovery in Cebu by assisting 170 students and their families at Lawaan III National High School in Talisay City, with help from 50 FWD volunteers.

Talisay City and its riverside communities were among the worst affected by the 2025 Cebu earthquake, Typhoon Tino, and flooding from the Mananga River. In response, FWD Philippines volunteers and JA Philippines representatives dedicated a day to rebuilding efforts and helping the community regain confidence to take on tomorrow.

By extending our reach to Cebu, we are deepening our commitment to be present in the communities we serve,” said Soon Liang Lau, FWD Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer. “Helping rebuild school environments and championing financial literacy are meaningful ways we stand alongside Filipinos and contribute to long-term nation-building.”

Volunteers kicked off the Community Care event on January 10 with financial literacy sessions for Grades 7 to 10, highlighting how mindset affects goals and choices. They also cleaned the classrooms to create a better learning environment for the students.

FWD Philippines also donated two bookshelves stocked with financial literacy books to help enable the students to build their best futures.

Apart from these FWD Philippines also distributed medicine, food, and hygiene kits to families for immediate relief.

As the insurer of the next generation, FWD Philippines reaffirms its commitment to nation-building by expanding beyond Luzon – equipping Filipinos everywhere with the financial tools, confidence, and knowledge so they may truly celebrate living.
