Never Not Love You starring James Reid & Nadine Lustre l Movie Review
Monday, April 02, 2018
James Reid and Nadine Lustre's latest film "Never Not Love You" is so relatable and realistic it hurts. I almost forgot that James and Nadine are in the big screen portraying the roles of Gio and Joanne, because while watching the film, I can feel the rawness of their feelings and the struggles that they experience just to make everything work out.
James Reid plays the role of Gio, a freelance graphic designer while Nadine Lustre plays the role of Joanne, a management trainee in an ad agency/direct selling company.
Team Real does it again with Never Not Love You, on their first meeting when Joanne went to the tattoo studio to fetch stickers from Gio, it was already a "kilig overload" scene, straight to the text messages then one of my favorite so far is when Gio fetch Joanne the next day and Joanne was completely clueless that he's going to fetch her. I love the natural expression of Joanne in that scene because it was as if Nadine is actually experiencing that "kilig" moment that James is there to pick her up, starting from that day and so on. Everything about that motorcycle ride is enough to make me smile and kilig all day long.
It's another one of a kind movie from the one and only blockbuster director Antoinette Jadaone, she didn't only did a magnificent job with the cinematography and I am not just talking about the splendid shots at Nagsasa Cove and London but also the colorful lights, Makati was pictured perfectly in the movie because with the hustle and bustle of the city, it's the perfect setting where a love story can unfold realistically between a dreamer and a free spirit. I also love the artistic shots of Nadine while walking or calling James and the snow/rain is pouring. I love how the film only evolved on James and Nadine's character plus minimal takes on her family unlike other movies that involves a dozen or so characters.
James and Nadine indeed played their respective roles perfectly, flashback to their movies Diary ng Panget and This Time, they are more mature now in this movie, James doesn't really need to do so much when it comes to acting because his eyes says it all, it's very expressive, you can definitely see instantly hurt, anger or love in his eyes. The confrontation scene of James and Nadine deserves a standing ovation, it was not exaggerated, it was real. I can feel that a lot of couples can relate to this scene because the scenario was helpless, in order for their love to survive, there's got to be one person who needs to sacrifice everything.
Plus the airport scene!! It broke my heart, seeing how helpless and sad both of them ending on a LDR. Prepare a hanky or tissue!
After watching this film, one would wish for a man like Gio - his love is endless, selfless, loyal and unconditional. One would wish for a woman like Joanne - Dreamer, career driven, independent, family oriented and overly supportive.
Overall, Never Not Love You will NEVER DISAPPOINT you. I can watch this film over and over again and the feeling will still be the same, it's definitely worth my time and yours too. This film puts JaDine's love team to a higher level because they're not just a love team but they're real, what you see is what you get and they don't cover their relationship with sh*t just to please anyone because they don't owe anyone an explanation, they're doing what they love and they are happy with what they've got - each other which eventually reflects on how they do well on screen. This movie will give you a lot of realization - on LOVE and GOALS in general. Can you even weigh which one is much more important? Or can we have both?
I've always been a fan and I will not regret covering mall shows way back then when they're still starting with my Blogger friends Dsweebox Iyane Escarpe and My Jucy.Net Jerhwin Hernandez, because all our faney mode back then gives me happy memories of how JaDine has come this far.
