For the actors who were part of "Mga Gabing Kasinghaba ng Hair Ko", it was a big challenge to play a role of being a transgender, what more a trans gendered sex worker but for every actor and artist, versatility is always a big test and the cast passed in all flying colors.
During the MediaCon of "Mga Gabing Kasinghaba ng Hair Ko or Those Long Haired Nights", two of the main cast were present together with the director who shared what the film is all about.
Mga Gabing Kasinghaba ng Hair Ko is about transgenders who struts their way along Burgos Ave. which is a red light district in Makati, some already know that this is where the cross-dressing prosties lurk at night. The film will walk us through the three transgendered sex workers namely Tuesday, Amanda and Barbie.
Tuesday played by Matt Daclan, stumbles upon love when she thought she was going to be murdered. Amanda confronts her desire for a family when she meets again with a high school girl friend. Barbie meets her end when she grabs the chance to make money for a sex change. It's a movie that will tackle how their live intertwine and how they make ends meet just to pursue their dreams and make ends meet.
Matt Daclan shared how physically and emotionally challenging his role as Tuesday is. The process of having his hair and make up done before the shoot plus tucking his privates between his legs throughout the shoot is really something he will never forget. In order for him to nail the role, he immersed himself in the nightlife at Burgos Ave. and while shooting the film, he even experienced some foreigners trying to hook him up thinking that he is a real life transgendered prostitute.
Matt won a Best Actor award in Cinema One for the film ‘Soap Opera’ and yet he said, every project he treats it to be somthing more challenging the latter. He always wants to give his best so that every role would be memorable and has that lingering effect to the audience. For him, this movie changed the way he looks at transgenders especially those who worked as prostitutes because they will do everything for their family.
Prime actor and also veteran in the showbiz industry is Mon Confiado who plays a pimp in the movie Mga Gabing Kasinghaba ng Hair Ko. He said that is is proud to have worked with amazing actors who will do everything.
Mon also shared that although he has done several roles that are lined up more on being the
"kontrabida", he said that his role here is different and he wanted to make sure that it will not be compared to what he usually does on screen.
Direk Gerardo Calagui is a film maker who works as a director, production designer and producer for commericlas, creative events and indie movies.
