Gil Cuerva at 22: On navigating modelling, showbiz career and life

The face that can launch a thousand shooting stars is making big waves in the showbiz industry and while we're celebrating his 22nd birthday, it's also understandable that Gill Cuerva, after being launched as "Matteo Domingo" of My Love from the Star which garnered top ratings ever since it premiered via GMA Network, he is without a doubt, the breakthrough actor this 2017.

Gil Cuerva, who is a certified pet lover, (he owns a poodle named Duchess) celebrated his birthday with his loyal fans at Bengal Brew / Wolf & Bear located at Manhattan View Park, Cubao, Quezon City.

It's a cafe where you can enjoy good food and at the same time bond with the cute bengal cats and adorable huskies, akitas, poodle and more. (separate review will be posted at the blog, I'm sure you'll love the fluffiness overload!)

Gil Cuerva thanked all his fans for the unwavering support he got from them starting from My Love from the Star till now.

According to Gil's fans, they love Gil because aside from his good looks, he also showed his passion with his craft. They also felt that "kilig" factor when he was paired with Jennylyn Mercado. Since then, they've been supporting Gil with all his projects and other upcoming as well. They're also thankful that even if he is busy with his schedule, he always takes time to talk them via social media.

Gil said that he owe all of this from his fans, without them he will not be able to be where he is right now because they've been very supportive. They also give his inspiration to strive more and give his best so that he will not disappoint them. Just recently, Gil Cuerva was one of the lucky Kapuso artists who met and went under an extensive acting workshop from no less than New York Professional Acting Teacher Mr. Anthony Vincent Bova.

Gil mentioned that he learned so much with Mr. Anthony Vincent Bova, not just as an actor but as an individual. He added that more than acting, it's also an empowerment. He gained more confidence, he admitted that even though he is a professional model, facing the camera is a bit terrifying for him, he tends to be shy which is why he is thankful to Direk Joyce Bernal as well especially to his leading lady Ms. Jennylyn Mercado for giving him all the trust that he needs to survive his very first teleserye.

What's next for Gil Cuerva after his much-talked about role as Matteo Domingo in My Love from the Star? According to Gil, the network has a lot of plans for him but for now he wanted to concentrate on what is happening at the moment, which is the acting workshop he just finished then whatever they have in store for him next, he would gladly do so because he trusts the management more than anything else.

Gil also shared that he doesn't mind having online bashers, he added that it is part of what he pursued which is the showbiz industry. There will always be criticisms and he needs to be tough and also accept that he is not perfect. He can never please everyone but he will never stop trying to be the best of what he can be so that he can stay longer and be more successful in this field that he chose.

Gil said that he never regretted entering the showbiz industry since he can still do modelling, he can do both and enjoy it at the same time. He is also looking forward to do more rom-com projects in the future and maybe work with Direk Joyce and also Jennylyn Mercado someday, he is even open into being a part of an indie film in the future. Gil said that he would also love to do action as well given the chance which is why when he has time, he never fails to go to the gym and maintain a healthy lifestyle as well.

Gil also toured Bengal Brew / Wolf & Bear with his fans. Aside from bonding with his fans, he also enjoyed checking out different breeds of adorable dogs at the cafe, he even played with them as well. He also loves cats but for now, he is taking very good care of his pet Duchess which you can always see on his Instagram stories.

With Gil Cuerva's charm, wit, passion for his craft and eagerness to learn more, he will surely go a long way. In fact, he is considered as this year's breakthrough artist.
