‘GMA Masterclass: Eleksyon 2025 Dapat Totoo Series’ goes to the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City on February 17; University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City on February 18; University of San Carlos in Cebu City on February 19; and Silliman University in Dumaguete City on February 20. Each session begins at 8 a.m.

Bringing in relevant and valuable insights to the participants are seasoned broadcast journalists Susan Enriquez and Mariz Umali, GMA Sportscaster and Sports Analyst Martin Antonio, GMA Integrated News Social Media Manager Hannah Petrache, GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas Local News Correspondent Zen Quilantang-Sasa (February 17-18), and GMA Regional TV Digital News Managing Editor Joeberth M. Ocao (February 19-20).

Hosting the event is GMA Synergy sportscaster and “24 Oras” Game Changer segment host Martin Javier, while The Clash Season 4 Grand Champion Mariane Osabel will entertain the audience with her performance.

"The first leg of the ‘GMA Masterclass: Eleksyon 2025 Dapat Totoo Series’ in Mindanao last January aimed to inspire and empower the next generation of Mindanaoan voters through insightful discussions led by our experienced speakers. As we head to the Visayas this February 17 to 20, we look forward to continue with our objective to encourage the Visayan youth to be socially aware, responsive, and responsible citizens who will stand with us in championing the truth and combating misinformation and disinformation as we push our ‘Panata Kontra-Fake News’ campaign,” said Senior Vice President and Head of GMA Integrated News, Regional TV and Synergy Oliver Victor B. Amoroso.

The first leg of ‘GMA Masterclass: Eleksyon 2025 Dapat Totoo Series’ featured award-winning broadcast journalist Tina Panganiban-Perez, GMA News Online Managing Editor Lou Albano, GMA Integrated News Social Media Assistant Manager Theodore Ortiz, and GMA Sportscaster and Sports Analyst Martin Antonio. A total of 6,700 students and participants joined the event at Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, General Santos City last January 22; Holy Cross of Davao College, Davao City last January 23; Liceo De Cagayan University, Cagayan de Oro City last  January 24; and Central Mindanao University, Bukidnon last January 25.

Hosted by Philippine Trivia King Kuya Kim Atienza, Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim promises to take viewers on a fun-filled and exciting journey of discovery – blending entertainment with mind-expanding trivia.

A fusion of fun and facts – the Kuya Kim way

“Kuya Kim pa rin ang mapapanood nila, pero ibang flavor naman ng Kuya Kim. Sa mundong ito, kailangan flexible tayo. At sa edad na 58, medyo millennial, Gen Zish Kuya Kim naman. Pero ang essence ay pareho pa rin, nagbibigay pa rin ng impormasyon na makabuluhan at magagamit sa pang-araw-araw na buhay,” he said.

Social Media as a learning tool

A lover of reading, Kuya Kim has always been fond of immersing himself in knowledge and trivia. And as technology has become another venue for learning, he has further embraced learning, the digital way.

“Napakahilig kong magbasa. Dati rati, before social media, I was reading books and magazines all the time. But now, everything has turned digital, I still read books. Ang Kindle ko nandito sa telepono ko, and I watch a lot of videos and podcasts. 

As his fans and followers know, Kuya Kim is very active on social media.

“Social media is a must. Some people say that we should avoid social media because it is bad for mental health. Social media is neutral – it would depend on the person to use it positively or negatively. As much as I could, I would like to be salt and light in social media, and at the same time I follow people who are salt and light as well – so it becomes a positive experience. But being in the public eye, it’s important to be immersed in social media. We have to know the trends, how the algorithm works, how each platform works, and use it to be salt and light to all my viewers and all my subscribers.”

An exciting pilot episode

For its pilot episode on November 30,  Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim features the viral video of a daring snake handler's encounter with a King Cobra. Kuya Kim shares fascinating snake trivia, complete with stunning visuals and expert input. 

To add to the excitement, Kuya Kim brings his pet snake for the public to see and experience firsthand. The episode culminates in a nail-biting live adventure tracking a real-life snake sighting.

Viewers should also catch the story about a TikTok user whose savings have gone to waste because of an uninvited occupant in the bamboo coin bank and the viral video of a stream that appears to be ablaze.

"As somebody na nag-umpisa sa Unang Hirit, 25 years ago, from day 1, you can just imagine the feels that I have. I am so excited," said Suzi Entrata-Abrera. "Medyo na-e-emotional nga ako minsan kasi silver anniversary. Who would've thought 25 years later we're still doing this? At na-a-appreciate pa rin kami ng manood kaya maraming maraming salamat sa inyong lahat sa pagtangkilik ng 25 years. At sa lahat ng taong dumaan sa show na ito on cam, lalo na 'yung off cam at pinaganda nang husto ang Unang Hirit, maraming maraming salamat sa inyo."

"Not One Inch: Our Seas, Our Hope" by the volunteer-run Pinoy Aksyon runs until November 23 (except November 19).

Launched last November 13, it features photos, videos, and other narratives of the fisherfolk of the coastal community of Masinloc, Zambales, one of the communities benefiting from the waters of the West Philippine Sea. 

The exhibit also includes a timeline that explains the history of the West Philippine Sea from pre-colonial times to the present, a "tunnel," and more. 

"Not One Inch" also emphasizes the rich marine ecosystems in the West Philippine Sea with documentation from the University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The Philippines continues to suffer harassment in the West Philippine Sea despite the landmark 2016 ruling of the International Permanent Court of Arbitration that declared China's maritime claims to be devoid of legal basis.
