Solaire Resort and Casino’s latest retro concert“Into The 80s” happening on May 18 at The Theatre celebrates the diversity of music that brings out the big, bold, brash, colorful, lively and loads of fun!

The 80s witnessed a wide range of music genres that were born or reached new heights of popularity–from pop, hard, metal, alternative rock, contemporary R&B, Hip Hop, country music, new wave, post-punk, all the way to electronic dance music. Exceptional artists and bands exploded onto the scene – their performance styles as diverse as the music they performed. From Prince to The Police, Sheena Easton to Spandau Ballet, Blondie to Kim Carnes, Bangles to Irene Cara, Whitney Houston to Wham, Billy Joel to Rick Astley, Kool and the Gang to Queen – each one unique in their own right and all with a fervent following of fans all over the world.

Into The 80s brings many of these songs back through the incredible talents of some of the Philippines’ own 80s musical icons Gino Padilla, Jett Pangan, Raymond Lauchengco, Lou Bonnevie, and Jam Morales, who will serve its audience an exciting repertoire that will cover the entire gamut of songs popular during that era.

Musical Director Toto Gentica has put together a set list that includes Billboard Top Hits like “Careless Whisper” by George Michael and “Every Breath You Take” by The Police; favorite movie themes like Xanadu, Ghostbusters, and Footloose; the best of new wave and 80s dance tunes “Just Got Lucky” by Jo Boxers, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston, “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel and “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang.

Topping off this musically rich repertoire are some of the hit songs of each of the evening’s performers – Lou Bonnevie’s “Love me Tonight”, Gino Padilla’s “Closer You and I”, Jett Pangan’s“Salamat”, Jam Morales’ “A Smile In Your Heart”, and Raymond Lauchengco’s“I Need You Back”.

The 80s feel will be further enhanced by outfits, choreography, and videos of events, TV shows, performers and performances reminiscent of the times. The entire evening is guaranteed to bring back memories and get audiences up on their feet and groove with iconic beats that transcend generations.

The headliners of Into The 80s will be joined by the Filipinas Dancers and the Session Band plus some surprise guests to ensure the show will live up to the spirit of the 80s. Directed by Toto Gentica, Script by Henry Tejero, and choreographed by Butch Esperanza.

PARK BO GUM FAN MEET IN MANILA

Love In The Moonlight breakthrough actor and one of South Korea’s youngest superstars Park Bo Gum encounters his Filipino fans live at his first ever fan meeting on April 27, 2019 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The Philippines is the most recent addition to Park Bo Gum’s 2019 Asia Tour: May Your Every Day Be A Good Day. The much anticipated tour kicked off in Seoul last January, and Manila will be the eighth and final stop, concluding the round of shows in Asia this year.

As a way to express the actor’s sincerest gratitude to adoring fans in the Philippines, Park Bo Gum will give Hi-Touch royalty and Good Day Manila official posters to all on-site attendees. In addition, 50 lucky fan meet ticket holders will be randomly selected to be part of his press conference prior to the Manila show, and 40 other ticket holders will each receive an autographed official poster.

Park Bo Gum jumpstarted his career in the entertainment industry by debuting as a supporting actor in the thriller film Blind (2011) and landed his first major role in the weekend series Wonderful Mama (2013). His next feature, The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2014), was a box-office hit becoming the highest grossing Korean film of all time. Park also played scene-stealing roles in Hello Monster and Coin Locker Girl, gaining rave reviews from audience and critics.

In 2015, Park Bo Gum’s role as one of the leads in hit TV series Reply 1988 had been a vital element to his road to success. The show broke many records and was hailed the highest-rated Korean drama in cable televison history, catapulting Bo Gum to a fast-rising Korean Wave heartthrob. By 2016, playing his most popular role to date, the Joseon crown prince in historical drama Love In The Moonlight, earned him a number of accolades, including Top Excellence at the KBS Drama Awards, Most Popular Actor for Television at the Baeksang Arts Awards, and Outstanding Korean Actor at the Seoul International Awards. This notable portrayal officially cemented Park Bo Gum’s status as one of Asia’s most versatile actors and skyrocketed him to A-list Hallyu stardom.

Park eventually became the youngest artist to be named Actor of the Year by Gallup Korea and rose to No. 1 on Forbes Magazine’s Korea Power Celebrity list. Global brands voted him Top Celebrity Endorser of 2017 and led to him being Korea’s torchbearer at the 2018 Winter Olympics. With all this worldwide recognition and new TV drama Encounter to be aired soon on ABS-CBN, Park Bo Gum is only getting started.
