Let's face it, it's really hard to find an authentic Japanese restaurant these days, you might find one but the price is not that affordable especially if you're in a deep craving to eat a Japanese dish.Thankfully, I got invited to a Blogger's night at Izakaya Kenta where I'll dig into a feast of authentic Japanese cuisine. Izakaya Kenta is located at the heart of Manila, siuated at Adriatico Street, Malate.
Once you get inside the Japanese resto, you'll definitely feel as if you're in Japan. I always love wood interior, it gives a warm and homey feel. The dim light also gives a cozy feeling that even if it's storming cold outside, you will feel the warmth of the room.
They also have private rooms where you can choose to dine in with your family to have a privacy or if youare with your office mates and friends, this is also very recommended. The place is very spacious and well air conditioned. May I just mentioned that I really love their comfort room. It looks so posh and it is very clean too complete with hand sanitizer, hand soap, tissue and all. I am very meticulous when it comes to comfort rooms of restaurants.Good Job on that Izakaya KIenta :-)
The staff are very friendly and accommodating, not because we were treated as guests that time but I also observed them even when there are customers who just got there. They greeted the customers with big smiles, they ask what else do we need and they come back as soon as possible.
The Food
First, they served as with three kinds of drinks: Ice Tea, Mugi Cha (Cold Tea) and Ocha (Hot Tea)All tasted perfectly fine with me.

First starters, we had salad as an appetizer. I love their salad, fresh! and the veggies used are all crunchy :-) Plus I love the salad dressing that they used. For dessert, I love Purin, which is like lechen in our native land. Not that sweet which is quite perfect for me.

For the main course we had the following which all tasted really good to me. My ultimate favorite of course is the Tako Potato, compared to others that I've tasted, this is ultimately superb. I love the sauce that they've used.

Sake Wine
Sake or saké is an alcoholic beverage of Japanese origin that is made from fermented rice. Sake is sometimes called "rice wine" but the brewing process is more akin to beer, converting starch to sugar for the fermentation process.
In the Japanese language, the word "sake" generally refers to any alcoholic drink, while the beverage called "sake" in English is usually termed nihonshu. Under Japanese liquor laws, sake is labelled with the word "seishu", a synonym less commonly used colloquially.
In Japan sake is served chilled, at room temperature, or heated, depending on the preference of the drinker, the quality of the sake, and the season. Typically, hot sake is a winter drink, and high-grade sake is not drunk hot, because the flavors and aromas will be lost. This masking of flavor is the reason that low-quality and old sake is often served hot.
Sake is usually drunk from small cups called choko, and poured into the choko from ceramic flasks called tokkuri. Saucer-like cups called sakazuki are also used, most commonly at weddings and other ceremonial occasions. Recently, footed glasses made specifically for premium sake have also come into use.
I'm glad to meet the young owners of Izakaya Kenta who are Japanese food lovers themselves and their busy chef :-)
My overall verdict for Izakaya Kenta is two thumbs up! Nice food, good ambiance.
A place for the the perfect Japanese feel, if you're looking for that. Although
their food is a bit pricey, it's justifiable since they offer authentic Japanese food.
