Foodies are in for a gastronomic treat as another food festival comes their way this April!

This April 18 to 19, guests can enjoy a spectacular array of regional delicacies, games and cultural performances at Eastwood City’s Savor the Flavors Food Festival. Happening at the Eastwood Mall Open Park, mallgoers can discover the soul of Filipino cuisine through different indigenous and contemporary Filipino dishes that will be served hot and fresh to all partakers.

Savor the Flavors is part of the Department of Tourism's Flavors of the Philippines festivals, which complements the Madrid Fusion Manila event.

Regional Delights

Food lovers can delight themselves with the wide variety of regional goods available for consumption at this two-day event. They will get to enjoyspecial empanada from Ilocos Empanada, Manang Joy and Victoria Empanda; hopia and home-cooked Filipino meals from Mrs. Po, and many more! Classic Filipino snacks and appetizers like the balut, itlog na maalat and flavored taho will also be served at the festival.

Cravings for kakanin and native sweets will definitely be satisfied from various selections that will be offered. Guests can choose among cakes, bars,and leche flan from Piper’s Fan and MedChef; rice cakes and tarts from Medie’s Kakanin, Bing’s Kakanin and Amira’s Buco Tart Haus; puto Biñan and sapin sapin from Armi’s Native Delicacies, puto Calasiao and Ilocos bibingka from Pinay De Cena; healthy ice pops from Picolep; toasted pastillas from Taste & See, and a whole lot more. Coco Vida and Aloha Drinks will also be there to quench thirsts with their coconut and native juice drinks.

Servings of Filipino pulutan specialties will also be made available by local chefs at the Pulutan Pavilion. Guests can take their picks from assorted sisig from Concoctions; lechon belly from Chef Rene; sausages from Big J; grilled seafood from Tuna Town and Aloha Grill; grilled staples from Larisa’s Grill, Ferdie’s Grill and Mamay’s Grill; longganisa from Juan Longganisa; Cebu chicharon from Maexel and many more!

And what’s a festival without lechon? Foodies can get their lechon fix and fill their bellies to the brim from the live roasting pit!

Food Jeepneys, Pinoy Palaro and more

Guests can relive the inner kid in them and enjoy the Pabitin, Palayok, and other festival games lined up during the day. There will also be workshops and cooking demonstrations by famed local chefs during the two-day event from which they will be able to explore unique local and indigenous ingredients & dishes.

As an added treat, a number of colorful Higantes will be on display for great photo opportunities. Eastwood City presents Once Upon an Easter Wonderland

Eastwood City is inviting all families and kids to start their own storybook adventure as it brings this year’s biggest and most anticipated Easter celebration, Once Upon an Easter Wonderland on April 5, 2015.

Once Upon an Easter Wonderland brings to life popular children’s stories and fairy tales in seven eye-catching Storybook Worlds, each bursting with fun kiddie activities, fantastic treats and other magical surprises. The fun begins even earlier this year as registration starts at 10a.m., with the Storybook Parade happening at 11a.m. and Storybook Worlds opening at 1p.m.

Start Your Own Magical Adventure at Seven Storybook Worlds

Children can kick off their storybook adventure by coming in their best fairy tale costumes and join the enchanting Storybook Parade, which starts at 11a.m. and will feature different fairy tale characters and adorable mascots including Eastwood City’s very own Easter, Woodluck, Cyburp and E-Walk. The first 100 registrants for the Storybook Parade get a free Eastwood City Cinema Pass.

At 1p.m, children can start their journey and explore the seven Storybook Worlds.Kids can fall down the rabbit hole into a topsy-turvy world of wonders at Alice in Wonderland at the Eastwood Mall Open Park, where they can also enjoy a coloring party, create their own bunny hat and dabble in an Easter Egg painting activity. They can also watch an Alice in Wonderland: A Children’s Musical from Kids Act Philippines at 6:30p.m.

They can then fly off with Peter Pan and the Pirates at the Eastwood Mall Atrium, where they can enjoy exciting encounters with pirates. Kids can make their own Pirate Pizza, walk the shark plant and fly like Peter Pan.

Young girls, meanwhile, can have a royally good time with a magical transformation and enjoy a princess make-over with jewelry making, hair and make-up bar and nail art at Cinderella’s Royal Ball at the 2nd floor of Eastwood Mall.Over at the Eastwood Central Plaza, young tykes can enter Pinocchio’s Toy Land, where gigantic fun awaits with inflatables and a Playpark.

Sweets-lovers can find their way across a forest full of candy-licious delights at Hansel & Gretel’s Candy Forest. Located at Eastwood Citywalk 2, the candy forest promises bewitching fun with plenty of free sweets and a mini garden maze challenge.

Kids hungry for more adventure can show their bravery at Mulan’s Adventure at the Fuente Circle. Through different activities such as archery and cultural activities like Trace your Zodiac, kids can become a legend like Mulan and learn more about Chinese culture.

More enchanting adventures await kids at the Jack & the Beanstalk at Eastwood Mall Open Park Wing (near House of Wagyu). Kids can start their own heroic journey, climb a beanstalk, milk a cow, enjoy a pony ride and count golden eggs to win great treasures.

After discovering the seven Storybook Worlds, children and their families can hunt for the Giant Easter Eggs hidden across Eastwood City and get a chance to win exciting prizes at the Eastwood City’s Easter Egg Hunt Online Promo.These works of art were created by art students during the Giant On the Spot Easter Egg Painting Competition held last March 26, 2015.

For chocolate lovers, this much-anticipated once a year festival in Eastwood Mall is already a can’t-miss event. They can enter the delectable chocolate village and enjoy delicious treats from a variety of stalls.

Cinq offers guests a variety of cakes, cookies and other desserts. Enjoy new ways to enjoy rice and discover healthy rice options at Eastwood City’s Rice Festival

2013 was proclaimed the National Year of Rice and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls is celebrating the Philippines’ staple food in a fun and informative way at Eastwood City’s Rice Festival, to be held on July 26 – 28, 2013 at the Eastwood Mall Atrium.

Guests at the opening ceremony located at the Eastwood Mall Atrium were treated to the rice rope cutting and talks on health & nutrition from rice experts.

Different varieties of rice and their and their health benefits were discussed by Eastwood’s program partner, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Meanwhile, the Philippine Rice Research Institute spoke about the country’s goal of rice self-sufficiency while OxFam talked about the benefits of brown rice.

Guests also enjoyed exciting cultural performances and a fun cooking demo from Eastwood Richmonde Hotel.

This was only the beginning for the three-day Rice Festival at Eastwood Mall, which includes a full line-up of activities designed to help Filipinos develop better rice eating habits. In partnership with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), the Rice Festival aims for shoppers to discover healthy rice options and to help them experience new ways to enjoy rice through exhibits, bazaars, cooking demos and more!

A recent National Nutrition Survey showed an unhealthy Filipino population. Among the other findings, the survey revealed that 7 in every 10 Filipinos do not meet the required energy intake. The unhealthy status of Filipinos could be traced partly to the lack of diversification in our diet as we also generally restrict energy source to rice; servings also usually comprise more than half of our plate, even if one-fourth is enough.

To stay healthy, nutritionists advise that it is important to eat rice in the better form and in the right amount, and to also include alternative food staples.

Looking through the Rice Exhibit is a great way for guests to begin this transformation, as it features advice on the right ways to eat rice and some delectable rice recipes. On July 28, the symposium presented by IRRI representatives at 6:00PM can also help shoppers learn about the potential benefits of high nutrient rice, while their children enjoy story telling on rice fables by Ms. Norma Chikiamco, author of The Rice Book.

Guests looking for new ways to serve up rice can watch a variety of cooking demonstrations – a session from PhilRice will be held on July 26, 5:00-6:00PM. There will be two cooking demonstrations on July 27 - one from Galileo Enoteca at 5:00PM – 6:00PM and CCA at 6:00-7:00PM. On July 28, Stephanie Zubiri of Atelier 317 will reveal two of her delicious brown rice recipes at 4:00-6:00PM.

More mouth-watering rice products await at the Rice Bazaar. Shopper can try rice at the IRRI rice tasting booth, and try other delicious rice products.

Delicious Filipino rice-based desserts like suman and sapin-sapin are being offered at Dolor’s Kakanin while rice wine is available from PhilRice. Shoppers can also buy rice at the booths of OxFam and Robinson’s Supermarket, and purchase creamy Arborio rice, wines and sourdough bread at Galileo Enoteca’s booth.

For rice with a Chinese twist, try machang (usually made with glutinous rice, stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo and reed leaves) from DEC. Homemakers can also check out a variety of cookbooks from National Bookstore.

At Eastwood City’s Rice Festival, learn healthy rice recipes from acclaimed chef Stephanie Zubiri during her cooking demonstration, to be held on July 28, 4:00-6:00PM at the Eastwood Mall Atrium.
