Meet Mary Rose Marbil and her mission to support the wellbeing of our country's policemen
Monday, March 03, 2025March is recognized as National Women’s Month in the Philippines, a period dedicated to honoring the significant contributions of Filipino women and celebrating their accomplishments in the pursuit of gender equality and social inclusion.
In celebration of National Women's Month, let's put a spotlight to the empowered Filipinas who actively pursues her own success and well-being. Some of their primary focus were attaining financial independence and establishing a secured future by means of having a stable and growing career, or influencing people around her.
However, the aspirations of an empowered Filipina extend beyond the realms of business and finance. She is consistently shattering barriers in various domains, achieving notable success in the arts, politics, science, sports, and academia, among other areas.
Just like Mary Rose Marbil, wife of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, General Rommel Francisco Marbil and the national adviser of the PNP-Officers’ Ladies Club Foundation Inc., she transformed the OLC into a foundation in July 2024 to extend help, instill hope, and provide invaluable assistance to critically ill policemen and their dependents. We all know the policemen and women are always battling danger in the field, even in the personal lives and until they retire which is why the organization took the initiative to support and take care of their welfare just like how they are always ready 24/7 to defend and protect every Filipino across the country.
Mrs. Mary Rose Marbil talked about her experience as adviser of OLC
Under her guidance, they started “Love and Blessings Virus,” (LAB virus), the initiative aimed to support police personnel facing health challenges, the group would troop to the police regional offices across the country to bring its Love and Blessings “LAB” virus initiative where beneficiaries in each police regional office are given much-needed aid.
Marbil emphasized the significance of the program, stating, “The Love and Blessings Virus Program is designed to offer emotional support and financial assistance to PNP personnel and their families dealing with health issues. Together with the officers and members of PNP OLCFI, we hope to help the PNP family in meaningful ways.”
Marbil articulated that the Love and Blessings Virus Program offers both emotional and financial aid to PNP personnel and their families facing health difficulties. She reaffirmed her dedication to supporting the PNP community, including officers and members of the OLCFI.
“The policemen are always helping others, but it seems like no one thinks to help them. And you know, especially in time of sickness, during typhoons, or calamities – they’re always the ones helping others. But their families are also affected. No one is helping them. That is why we thought, why don’t we also put our resources towards them,” Marbil stated.
The backing from the PNP Officers Ladies Club has significantly enhanced the morale and spirits of the beneficiaries, with the provided gifts acting as a crucial form of support.
For the foundation to be sustainable, OLC held fund raising program and even concerts just like the Singing Cops which was a big success because they raised an incredible amount and some of the cops were even given a recording deal because of their talent in singing. Aside from this, they also conduct business related seminars like soap making, dishwashing liquid and more for those who wanted to startup a business.
The foundation continues to actively offer hope and assistance to critically ill police officers and their families, regardless of any forthcoming changes in the leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
"We have established a systematic approach, thoroughly documented all procedures, and will persist in recording the guidelines. This ensures that when I transition out of my role, I can effectively and seamlessly transfer all responsibilities to my successor," Marbil stated.
She emphasized that the legacy of the OLC will endure, continuing to support the courageous and dedicated individuals in uniform even beyond General Marbil's tenure.
Aside from being busy as the adviser of OLC, Mrs. Marbil calls her self as a simple, ordinary wife and mother. She describes herself as not strict with her only daughter who recently got engaged. Her advice to her daughter who will eventually start a family soon is just to be herself. She trust her very much because she is a responsible and independent woman and she will surely be a wonderful wife and mom in the future.
Mrs. Marbil is also looking forward to spend more quality time with her family since she retired in her corporate work. When the right times comes and her husband PNP Chief Marbil can finally retire, they would travel enjoy more time together and at the same time relax with their daughter. Truly, she is not just an inspiration to the PNP community and the corporate world she worked but also a loving and supportive woman when she comes home.
This month serves as a reminder that remarkable women are cultivated through their efforts and determination. If you wish to forge your own path, much like Mary Rose Marbil, pursue your ambitions with confidence. There is no disgrace in striving for success. May the journey of this woman motivate you to embark on your own path to success and contribute to making a positive impact in the world.
