Movie Review: My Future You will capture your heart from zero and beyond
Friday, December 27, 2024Regal Entertainment made the perfect decision of stirring away from their usual horror entry every Metro Manila Film Festival. This year, they offered something fresh, a romance-fantasy film filled with "kilig" moments that any age group would appreciate.
My Future You stars the country's hottest love team #FranSeth: Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin, they showcased not just their onscreen chemistry but also their top-notch acting. They're mature enough in their respective roles far from their pa-cute roles in the usual classroom set ups.
My Future You Official Trailer
Plot:
Karen (Francine) and Lex (Seth) connect through an online dating app, but there's a twist—they're living 15 years apart in different timelines. Their bond is sparked by a comet that bridges their worlds. As they get closer, Karen urges Lex to tweak significant moments in her past to stop her parents from splitting up. However, every change they make leads to unexpected fallout, altering their futures in surprising ways. In a last-ditch effort, Lex tries to fix everything, but some things might just be out of their hands.
I love the storytelling of My Future You. The cast is just as perfect and there's a right amount of romance, drama and fantasy in this film that you can't help but smile while watching it. It could pass as a series, I wish it was a series because I would definitely watch every episode of it.
FranSeth showcased that they are now ready to tackle more mature roles in the future, their acting has more depth now, if given the right project. Their eyes are more expressive and they delivered their lines with sincerity as if they were really Karen and Alex. It was indeed a heartfelt performance.
I've read somewhere that this movie was one of the last projects Mother Lily approved, which means she knew by heart that it really has a potential and she believed that the two lead actors will carry the film well.
This movie will make you realize that what is happening on our lives right now is fate and destiny runs its own course which is why changing the past or the future will only ruin the present.
If we can really meet someone in the future, how exciting it can be, but for Alex and Karen... you have to find out how their worlds collide even if there's a barrier between them.
I hope movie goers will give this movie a chance and watch it because it is worth your money.
My Future You is now showing in cinemas nationwide. Completing the cast are Christian Vazquez, Almira Muhlach, Peewee O’Hara, Bodjie Pascua, Mosang, and Vance Larena.
