‘Pipol of da Barangay’ Nominated for Best Original Digital Drama Series at Asian Television Awards

“Pipol of da Barangay”, a Filipino sitcom by Kapitana Entertainment Media, has been nominated for Best Original Digital Drama Series at this year’s Asian Television Awards. “Pipol of da Barangay” was “Barangay Mirandas” on Net 25 in 2023. The recognition places it among a prestigious lineup of competing dramas from Singapore, China, India, Korea, and Malaysia.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of a barangay in the Philippines, ‘Pipol of da Barangay’ follows the journey of Barangay Kapitana Miriam Sebastian, portrayed by Julia Clarete, as she navigates the complexities of her newly won position amidst political rivalries and community dynamics. After winning a fiercely contested election, Kapitana Miriam and her diverse council must grapple with opposition forces, quirky community challenges, and even criminal threats, all while maintaining their sense of humor and heart.

The series also features the compelling performance of John Medina as Kagawad Rolly, Miriam's chief rival, bringing a dynamic tension that enriches the show's comedic and dramatic elements.
