Aj Raval, Aljur Abrenica, Rannie & Lance Raymundo stars in WPS Series

As Filipinos, we should be aware of what is happening in our country. We should always be on the lookout of what goes on in and out of our boundaries because this is our homeland. It's our responsibility to protect our land just as our national heroes fought hard to gain the freedom that we have right now.
The ongoing territorial dispute between China and the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) has become one of the most prominent issues in recent years. This issue has resonated beyond national borders and has captured global attention. Even so, the bullying in the sea never stops.
Recognized as the Philippines’ future, West Philippine Sea holds great importance, offering bountiful resources and capable of boosting the country’s economy and contributing significantly to food security.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, West Philippine Sea contributed approximately 7.2 percent to the total fisheries production and 10.8 percent to the total food fish production in the Philippines between 2018 and 2022. Filipino fisherfolk depend on WPS for livelihood and sustenance, with most of them from Ilocos, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, and some parts of NCR.
The rich coral reef ecosystems of the West Philippine Sea serve as habitats and breeding grounds for numerous fish species, contributing to its diversity and abundance.
These are just some of the important facts how valuable WPS is. This is why, Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc. spearheaded by no less than Dr. Michael Raymond Aragon initiated to have an advocacy series that will spark and ignite the attention of every Filipino to reunite and fight for what is ours.
"WPS" (West Philippine Sea) is a story of hope and resilience. It explores the power of love, the importance of unity, and the unwavering spirit of a nation determined to fight for its inherent rights and future. It reminds us that even in the face of overwhelming odds, the human spirit can prevail, fueled by love, resolute determination, and the unwavering belief in the power of collective action and the true spirit of nationalism and patriotism for genuine devotion to and love of country and people.
The cast consists of Jeric Raval, Aj Raval, Aljur Abrenica, Ayanna Misola, Ali Forbes, Daiana Menezes, Lala Vinzon. Lance Raymundo, Rannie Raymundo, Masimmo Scofield and more.
Writer and Director of the series is Dr. Michael Raymond Aragon.
WPS will start shooting this October 2024 and target date of showing is within this year. WPS will be released via TV - PTV4, on radio DZRH and also via online streaming app VIVAONE. Hopefully, they will also get a slot on Netflix in the future. They are planning to translate it to different dialects so that Filipinos all over the country can watch the series and even internationally.
The cast were very hopeful about this advocacy project which is why all of them agreed to be part of this series. Brothers Rannie and Lance Raymundo shared that there's no hesitation in their part and they really want to do this for our country, it's also a plus that they will be doing a project together. Rannie is very supportive of this project that he also offered his composed songs to be used for this series. He is also willing to train AJ Raval and other Viva Artists stars to be future singers.
Couple AJ Raval and Aljur Abrenica are both happy that they will be working together again after some time, a bonus too because Jeric Raval is also in the series. AJ said that this is something she wanted to do because she wants to veer away from sexy projects and focus on her growth as an actress. After getting busy with studies and focusing on herself, she realized that she wanted to pursue different things and thankfully, this role was offered to her. She will be playing the role of Alena, daughter of Commander played by Rannie Raymundo.
Aljur on the other hand is excited to work with Jeric Raval and he is also preparing for his scenes because he wants to give his best for this advocacy. He is currently freelance right now and willing to pursue challenging roles. Their pairing in WPS will be a much-awaited romance to this action-drama filled series.
Truly, this advocacy series is much-awaited and can mirror how we, as Filipinos should value our resources and stay vigilant as always. WPS is a fictional tv series.
