Teen Actress Jhassy Busran wins two International Acting Awards, stars in new film Caught in the Act

At the age of 15, Jhasmine Busran or better known as Jhassy Busran from Bulacan is an epitome of what a goal getter is all about. She definitely knows how to balance her studies, sports, leisure and her new found passion in acting. 

Even though she is an emerging teen actress, she is making a mark on her own in the industry as she won her first ever International acting award, not just one but two acting awards. This is for the film "Pugon (The Furnace)" and she received the Jury Award Best of the Best Performance Short Film (Male or Female) at the 2021 International Film Festival Manhattan New York and as best child actress in Gully International Film Festival in India. 

Pugon (The Furnace) was part of the 2021 Cinemalaya IndieNation which was streamed via ktx.ph last August. The narrative short film was directed by Gabby Ramos and stars Soliman Cruz, Andrea Del Rosario among others. The film tackles child labors and Jhassy showed her acting prowess by immersing herself into her given role so that it would come out naturally in the big screen. 

Jhassy is also part of the film "Caught in the Act" which is currently showing in Metro Manila Cinemas. 

In the movie, she is: “I am Daisy Sison, the best friend of Elaine Cruz which Andi Abaya portrays,” says Jhassy. “My character in the movie is a nerd but not the typical one. She has a social life. She has great friends. She prioritizes her studies pero di niya kinakalimutan maging masaya.” 

Her preparations for the role, she shares: “When I have a new role to portray I just always think that I have to wear the shoes, the feelings and thoughts of my character. And Daisy and I are somewhat similar. I am also I am also prioritizing my studies but at the same time, I balance it with quality time with my family and friends.” 

She said that she would never forget her fun and good memories working with her co-actors. They were very supportive and guided her all throughout the shoot plus she discovered that she can focus that long.

Currently, Jhassy is on her 9th grade at the Mission Christian School, with the King’s Language, English as her favorite school subject. On the side, she is a varsity player of their table tennis team. This beauty and brains is an inspiration to others as she graduated salutatorian with 7 awards and a consistent honor student since kinder. Aside from this, she is also active in sports. She played fable tennis in BULPRISA and won a silver medal and also plays volleyball. You might think that she acts boyish but don't be fooled because she can also slay the runway as she became the title holder of Bb. Kalinisan twice and Ms. Intramurals 2019. There's a glimmer of Beauty Queen in her future and we should all root for her when that happens but for now, she wants to focus on her studies because she dreams of becoming a lawyer someday and also balance her studies with acting on the side.

This promising young lad can also sing, in "Caught in the Act" movie, they released the original soundtrack Inner Love and Jhassy sung "Huwag Muna Ngayon". 

Jhassy also shared that she is a big fan of SB19 although she've never met any of them personally. She is also a big fan of Pop Royalty Sarah Geronimo-Guidicelli, Maymay Entrata and wants to follow the footsteps of Veteran and Award Winning Actress Sylvia Sanchez.

In the future, she wants to do more challenging roles that will give her the edge in becoming a fulfilled actress. She wants to be a versatile actress and also wishes to do a horror film. She will have an upcoming project soon so watch out for it. There's no doubt that Jhassy Busran is a name we should all look forward in the coming years.
