SUN LIFE wishes to boost Life, Health, and Wealth in their financial campaign for June
Friday, June 07, 2019
Let's face it, almost everyone we know are living the best of their lives by means of traveling, investing on gadgets, car or a new house but if you ask anyone of them, almost one fourth of them will tell you that they don't have an insurance yet.
According to the study, 68% of Filipinos were concerned about saving for emergencies, 62% on securing their family’s future, and 57% on retirement. In order to address these priorities, 62% said they are managing their finances while 54% are spending only on things that are planned. Only 39% replied that they were investing their money in order to fund their goals.
This is the main reason why SUN LIFE chose the theme ”Life, Health, and Wealth” for its Financial Independence Month campaign this June.
In #SUNTalks, Krie Lopez (Messy Bessy CEO), Sara Black (photographer & wellness advocate), and Bo Sanchez (preacher, author, and entrepreneur) shared inspiring stories on life, health, and wealth.
Krie Lopez (Messy Bessy CEO)
Unlike the more popular commercial products, Messy Bessy cleaners are made only with ingredients that actually clean – no fillers, no bubble-makers, no colors, no funky artificial scents. If it doesn’t do the job, then it doesn’t belong in your home and they also use natural ingredients that doesn't harm the environment.
It all started when Krie visited Delancey Street Foundation where she realized that businesses CAN empower disadvantaged members of society. She then established Messy Bessy as a way to empower sexually abused girls. Early on, they were able to put up in-house high school diploma program and since then they already have 21 high school graduates and counting. They also spearheaded the "Helping Ourselves Program", a holistic approach to educate and empower the young adults. Then a partnership with Manila Business College was formed and they have been able to support 50 college scholars.
This is how Filipinos can start focusing on the future by SUN Smarter Life Classic which is a protection plan that provides double life insurance coverage throughout one's lifetime. Available in flexible premium payments, it also offers benefits that he can use in case of emergencies or immediate need for cash.
Sun Life Among the initiatives under ”Life” is the Life Insurance Calculator, which would help one assess how much life insurance he would need to properly cover the needs of his loved ones, giving him a clearer goal to pursue. The digital tool can be accessed via bit.ly/SLlnsuranceCalc.
Sara Black (photographer & wellness advocate)
Sara Black may look very active and classy all the time as well as fit and vigorous but people may not know that she experience a lot in her health in the past few years. She was one of the top photographers and at the top of her career she experienced something that shocked her about her health and she was not prepared for it - breast cancer plus an accident that made her vulnerable but despite of this, she conquered it because she ask God for guidance and strength plus she took a 180 degree turn when it comes to her lifestyle, meaning she changed the way she eat, she eats mostly vegetables now plus she also makes it a point to be active other activities that will relax her mind, body and soul.
Under ”Health," Sun Life endorses SUN Fit and Well, a new generation wellness plan that offers comprehensive life and health protection. It covers the whole health Journey from prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, offering comfort and peace of mlnd should a serious illness strike.

Sun Life is also set to team up with Waze to promote road safety in an initiative dubbed ”Brighter Drive, Brighter Life,” which will alert Waze users on accident-prone areas. This may also serve as a reminder for Waze users, who are also registered Lazada members, to insure themselves with a digital life insurance from Sun Life, such as Life Armor. It may be availed via the said online marketplace for as low as P100.
Bo Sanchez (preacher, author, and entrepreneur)
Bo Sanchez before he became what he is today, he experienced many struggles as well just like any other Filipino but the calling to help was there even when he was still young. Today, Bo Sanchez is an influential Catholic lay evangelist, a TV host, a best-selling author, a husband, a father of two boys, and an inspiration to thousands of Filipinos. But he says that he may not have found God had he not experienced deep pain.
There’s no denying that Bo Sanchez has achieved much in his life. After all, he had an early start. At the young age of 13, Bo Sanchez gave his first talk to a prayer group of adults, much to the amazement of his supportive parents. Not long after Bo started preaching, he started the Light of Jesus community with his parents. At 14 years old, Bo Sanchez started preaching the Word of God to around 20 people in their garage. Today, the Light of Jesus community has around 3,000 members, 30 branches all over the Philippines, and 27 branches around the world.
He also founded a magazine called “Kerygma” that has been in circulation for 23 years, written over 30 books about strengthening one’s faith and family relationships, and founded Shepherd’s Voice radio and television foundation. He also actively uses online videos, blogs, and his website (preacherinbluejeans.com) to preach.
He may have prosper now but he will never forget how to reach out to others and spread how to be a good person with or without money.
In connection to this, we can all opt to invest in the Sun Life Prosperity Achiever Funds from Sun Life Asset Management Inc. (SLAMCI). The first target date investment funds in the Philippines, these funds are designed to help investors achieve their goals on time with the minimum investment at only P1,000.
Should they wish to encourage their loved ones to start their own investing journey as well, they can give them a Sun Life Prosperity Card, 3 gift card which can be invested in any of Sun Life’s peso-denominated funds. It is available in P1,000 and P5,000 denominations.
In order to keep them on track as they pursue their life, health, and wealth goals, Sun Life also created Sun Future Planner, a comprehensive financial planning guide that would help one determine his life stage, analyze his needs, and take concrete steps to achieve his goals.
”Life, health, and wealth are the essentials of a brighter future, but one can only achieve them if they save and invest for the future,” Sun Life Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Lopa said. ”This is possible with the right partner, tools, and products, and these are what we would like to highlight this Financial Independence Month.”
