Thursday, September 13, 2018

At this time and age, we should all be concerned with the world that we live in. If you look around you, we use certain things that contributes as a pollutants to the environment. Aside from this, some of the products that we use may have toxins that can harm our body as well.

This is why there are some groups who, thankfully raises awareness on promoting Eco-Friendly products as well as attaining ZERO-WASTE LIFESTYLE.

The aim of the zero waste is to achieve a resource life cycle that no trash are sent to landfill or incinerator. By adopting the zero waste lifestyle, consumers are able to save money and built up a healthy lifestyle as they only buy what is needed. Moreover, it can achieve sustainability, improve product’s lifespan, mitigate environmental pollution, combat global warming, reduce the burden of landfill and incinerator and reduce environmental footprint.

The principles of zero waste lifestyle are simple, which are waste prevention, separate collection and reduction of residual waste. For waste prevention, consumer is suggested to purchase only goods which are needed and eliminate the use of one time disposal products, while industrial and firm should produce long lifespan and repairable products using recycled materials together with minimum and recyclable packaging in order to phase out waste. Separate collection is a strategy for categorize different components such as recyclable materials, food waste, and etc. to achieve high resource life cycle and recycle rate. On the other hand, reduction of residual waste is to gradually phasing out non recyclable and reusable waste.

This is the perfect time that we start using "Greentools" or Eco-friendly products that can help us attain zero waste lifestyle.

Mimi and Me Greentools is founded by Julia Camille Chiong, she graduated from Ateneo de Manila University and have always wanted to find ways on how to reduce trash seeing that more and more people are using plastics where ever they go. With single-use plastic straws and utensils damaging the environment, the founder of Mimi & Me Greentools figured that there would be people as concerned as she is about the state of the Mother Earth. Its line of quality reusable items is made in partnership with disadvantaged local communities, making the company a vehicle not just for environmental change, but also for social and economic advancement as well.

Mimi is Julia's nickname and ME is like an initial for "Mother Earth or Mama Earth", she used Greentools so that people will automatically think that they are promoting eco-friendly products. Purchasing Mimi and Me Greentools not only benefits you but also people around you, she prioritized products that we usually use like Beauty, Hygiene and the things we usually we need when we go out.

Check out the Mimi and Me Greentools and how Julia came up with each of the products. For instance, the Bamboo straws are locally made straight from a community in Palawan, they are made from natural bamboo, although it has a tendency to get molded, which is why they always tell their customers to take care of the bamboo straw by cleaning it as soon as they finish using it, the bamboo straw set comes with a cleaner so that you can clean it anytime and anywhere after you use it.

The foldable spork is stainless steel that you can bring as well anytime and anywhere when you feel the need to have your food for take out, you don't need to ask for plastic spoon or fork anymore to eliminate the use of plastics. This is perfect for those on the go or for camping, traveling and for those who also works in the office even students.

The toothbrush is made with bamboo for the handle and nylon for the brush, it is available in charcoal as well. How to take care of the bamboo so that it won't get molded that easily? make sure to dry it after using it and put it in a less moist area.

For the reusable cotton rounds, it is an alternative to using cotton that eventually goes to waste after a single use. The cotton rounds are made of soft terry cloth, each set is composed of 12 cotton rounds which you can use everyday then wash it with mild soap.

Julia shared some of the challenges she faced putting up a zero-waste lifestyle through her greentools and she admitted it's never easy to start up an advocacy that people will immediately support and believe in but we all know that at the end of the day, we should think of ways on how we can make our world a better place to live in and this is her way to help save the environment and she hope eventually, people will also start now by supporting her cause and buying greentools as well.

Overall, these products are cutting edge, modern, and will often save you money and allow you to avoid wastefulness, but they are more than just good for you. In today’s world, the planet needs our help. Our abuse and misuse of resources has put the planet in a difficult predicament, and we are the only ones that can stop it. While it can be difficult to make a huge difference as one person, conserving resources and using eco-friendly products is a great way for each person to participate in the preservation of our planet and ecosystem.

By using eco-friendly products, each person is contributing to the safety and preservation of the resources provided from the planet, such as metals, plastics, and even water. If more people use eco-friendly products, the cost of other products will go down, and it would benefit all inhabitants, human and animal.

I'd like to thank Julia because she steps up with this cause and I support her all the way!
