Taguig city gov’t signs deal to energize partnerships with Meralco

A highly urbanized city with growing electricity needs, Taguig recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which aims to spur economic progress throughjoint initiatives between the country’s largest electric distribution utility and local government units (LGUs).
“With the signing of the EPP-MOU, we at Meralco have further committed to remain steadfast in our support of Taguig City’s programs, which are all in line with delivering excellent service to its constituents,” Meralco Senior Vice President and Head, Customer Retail Services and Corporate Communications Alfredo S. Panlilio said.
At the signing ceremony, Panlilio noted that, to date,Meralco has energized numerous projects with the LGU including the Taguig-Pateros hospital, the Taguig Lakefront community park, 10day care centers, 12 multi-purpose halls, nine covered courts, over 40 streetlights, and more than 1,000 households through the RAISE project led by One Meralco Foundation.
For her part, Mayor Lani Cayetano affirmed that Meralco has long been helping the city government, saying that the distribution utility’s “Ang Liwanag ng Bukas” slogan serves as a clear representation of how the power utility literally and figuratively gives light to every home, street and community.
“On behalf of the City of Taguig, we thank Meralco for all the help and support. I am truly confident that this new partnership will lead to a better, closer collaboration between Taguig and Meralco, and consequently boostour capability to continuously respond to the fast-changing needs of our citizens,” she said.
