A new and daring youth-oriented show that will challenge the way we think about the "millennials". This will surely bridge the gap between the older generation and understand what really goes on in the minds of this generation.
GMA Network launches yet another exciting teen-oriented show, this time a more daring that focuses on the "yuppies". TGIS is one of the popular youth oriented show of GMA Network which is also the stepping stone of some of the most popular actors and actress now in the showbiz industry.
G.R.I.N.D. will feature the story of four millennials who struggle to find their place in the world but face each day head on. "G.R.I.N.D." stands for Get Ready It's a New Day and stars four budding Kapuso stars: Athlete-turned-Kapuso hunk Bruno Gabriel, Benedict Campos, Jazz Ocampo, and Ayra Mariano.
During G.R.I.N.D.'s Bloggers Conference, three out of four of the lead cast were present and they were able to share some juicy details about their respective roles.
Bruno Gabriel as Carlo Yuson
Carlo Yuson is a thriving manager of one of the largest advertising companies in the country. Coming from a difficult childhood, he has developed grit for success. However, this makes him vulnerable to jealous co-workers and bosses.
Jazz Ocampo as Solanj Martinez
Solanj Martinez is Carlo’s best friend who is an underachiever wanting to prove herself to the world. Born with a silver spoon, Solanj challenges herself by investing on a café business that puts her love life at stake. If her business fails, her family will dictate the person she will marry.
Ayra Mariano as Lui Gonzales
Lui Gonzales is the polar opposite of Solanj as she belongs in a dysfunctional family where she takes the responsibility of being the breadwinner. Her mom got involved with different men, giving her children with different nationalities. In order to support her family, Lui juggles with different jobs while trying to remain as the source of sunshine in their household.
Benedict Campos as RK Katakutan
Having the same fate is the handsome and discreet gay man RK Katakutan who tries his luck in the city to help his struggling but happy family in the province. Just like Lui, he will be shifting from one job to another as to support the immediate needs of his loved ones.
Jazz, Bruno and Ayra talked about how each of their character in the series differs from one another. Each has a battle of their own and the good part is, it will inspire most of the young millennials on how to pursue their dreams and just be true to themselves. How they can fit in the world and how they can cope up with the challenges and changes around them.
Their respective roles will have different challenges aside from the happy friendship that they will share all throughout the first season of the show. Since the show is aired late night every Saturday, after I-Witness, the big question is, how daring would be the cast? On the trailer of the show, Bruno Gabriel already did a shower scene, Bruno said that they have "more liberty" on their show. Ayra added that their roles are more mature compare to the roles she used to do where she used to be a paired in a love team.
Ayra Mariano as Lui - Ms Pangkabuhayan Showcase
Jazz Ocampo as Solanj - The Artsy Millennial
Benedict Campos as RK - The Happy & Gay Millennial
Bruno Gabriel as Carlo - The Ambitious Risk-taker
Jazz on the other hand said that she feels grateful that is part of G.R.I.N.D. since they all auditioned for the roles. Her role is the hippie and always the trendsetter one. She added that her role in this show is very interesting, "Si Solanj at si Jazz, sobrang opposite. As in si Jazz as a person sobrang supportive ng family, my mom’s always there. Si Jazz sheltered, very baby, ganyan, conservative. Pero si Solanj very ano siya, independent, very expressive to what she wears. Wig ni Solanj? It depends sa mood niya." She's the "kikay" type and people would always look forward on how she'll dress up every episode. This is not the first show of Jazz on GMA Network, in fact she's done several teleseryes but this is the first one where she'll be part of the main cast.
Ayra mentioned that she doesn't feel that she will be typecast on doing mature roles because of G.R.I.N.D., she added that this will be a stepping stone for her to do more challenging roles in the future so that she can be more of a versatile actress. She is willing to venture more on trying different roles and hopefully, she wishes to do indie films as well in the future.
Bruno Gabriel on the other hand said that he will not be showing skin all the time on the show but merely since it was part of the script and a little bit of an introduction about his role, but it is more of a sexy scene but not really that revealing. Bruno Gabriel is the nephew of the actress Rachel Lobangco. Bruno is a sports buff, he used to play soccer, football and tennis, he even competed in the U.S. for tennis matches. Bruno also did theater, print ad and commercials in the past. His most recent project is Anything for You, a teleserye with Kristoffer Martin and Joyce Ching.
The cast also talked about Benedict Campos as RK Katakutan
