The internationally-acclaimed LTE-ready LG G2, hailed by Stuff.tv as “the best smartphone in the world”, finally arrives in the country.

Glowing reports about LG Mobile’s newest premium flagship have been milling around since its worldwide launch in New York the previous month. Even global netizens have voted LG G2 as “the best smartphone out there now” in a recent PhoneArena.com poll.

Removing ‘Optimus’ in LG’s high-end mobile handset line, the LG G2 puts forth human-inspired revolutionary features, making it the brand’s most sought-after smartphone to date.

The grand Philippine launch was held at Solaire Resort and Casino, in which dealers and media gathered to witness the exciting product reveal. Reputable personalities went onstage to share their insights on the diverse areas of the long-awaited product. Hon. Dante M. Lantin, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), discussed the global technological innovations of LG G2 which lead to improved connection and information distribution among Filipinos.

Thih Liang Goh, Qualcomm Business Development Director in Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore, commended the LG G2’s hardware, which rides on the industry’s most advanced mobile chipset, Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 800 Processor. Koh Onozawa and Franz Ignacio, creators of the acclaimed Loudbasstard sound amplifiers, hyped on the LG G2’s minimalist design, particularly the seamless button-free sides, the industry’s narrowest bezel, and the world’s first Rear Key. CMMA-winning photojournalist Revoli Cortez praised the LG G2’s Full HD camera which pioneers a winning combination of 13 megapixels, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), sapphire crystal glass lens, 8X Digital Zoom, 9 Multi-Point Auto-Focus, and video recording capability up to 60 fps Full HD.

To cap off the prestigious roster of speakers, LG Mobile celebrity ambassadors Paulo Avelino, Maxene Magalona, and Kiefer Ravena enlightened the audience about how the LG G2 learned from them through cutting-edge UX features.

LG G2’s groundbreaking design stems from behavioral studies and features the world’s first Rear Key, which is used for switching on and off, activating LG’s QuickMemoTM, and launching the 13-megapixel Full HD camera. The device sports a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display for superior graphics and contains the industry’s most powerful battery capacity at 3,000 mAh siO+. It also boasts of the industry’s first 24 bit/192kHz Hi-Fi sound playback for studio-quality audio.

Upgrades have been made in the user experience (UX) features already found in previous LG smartphones, such as QuickMemo™, QuickTranslator, QuickRemote, Audio Zoom, Dual Camera, and Dual Recording. The LG G2 also incorporates new and practical UX features such as KnockON, which turns the display on or off by tapping twice with a finger; Guest Mode, which protects the owner’s privacy by displaying only pre-selected apps when guests access the phone; and Answer Me, which automatically answers the call after lowering the ringtone when the phone is raised to one’s ear.

LG Electronics Philippines garnered a momentous market growth in the competitive smartphone segment, according to latest data from GfK.

The consumer electronics giant gained “significant, amount-based market share” driven by the success of its Optimus L Series line-up released early this year. Both first and second generation L Series mobile phones targeted low to middle market segments.
The South Korean global leader and technology innovator also unveiled its G Series models this year, the LG Optimus G and LG Optimus G Pro, catering to the premium market. According to GfK, LG Philippines’ smartphone sales for the first half of 2013 almost doubled with a growth of 94% versus 2012.

The latest on the G Series roster is the internationally acclaimed LG G2, dubbed by Stuff.tv as “the best smart phone in the world”. Lawrence Kim, vice president of LGEPH Mobile Communications, noted that the timing of the mobile phone’s Philippine debut is a strategic move. “The highly anticipated LG G2 generated the shortest period of time between a global and a local launch,” he said. “We want to support the global rollout and marketing initiatives of the G2 and be able to maximize the market share of the premium mobile user segment in the Philippines.”

The G2 is noticeably without the “Optimus” which is the smartphone brand that comes with the models of LG Mobile. Kim explained that this signifies a “human-inspired” smartphone with features that will revolutionize a highly competitive industry.

“LG G2 is the pinnacle innovation in the current line-up of LG Mobile,” Lawrence Kim, vice president of LG Electronics Philippines’ Mobile Communications division, stated. “Its key message ‘Learning from You’ incorporates a number of revolutionary consumer-based components that are set to become trendsetters in today’s smartphone market, shaping the smartphone of choice worldwide.”

Kim added, “With the groundbreaking LG G2, we are confident that we can maintain our strong market position in the Philippine smartphone industry especially as it features many industry firsts that will surely change the smartphone scene in the country.”
