Sergio Mendes’ influence in the music industry spans five decades and counting. He is best known for being responsible for the rise of Brazilian music in the international scene. His “Brasil 66” hit a milestone for being the first album to be sung entirely in Portuguese that reached the top 5 of the famous Billboard magazine with “Mas Que Nada” as its flag bearer single. Adapting to the changing music landscape, he has expanded his reach by venturing into other genres to mix into his and collaborating with new-age artists. Sergio has worked with Black Eyed Peas front man Will.i.am, Justin Timberlake, and John Legend among many others, and extended his expertise for the successful animated film Rio and its sequel, Rio 2.

Lani Misalucha and Morrisette Amon shares details about their concert, how it was brought up and their reactions when they finally knew they are performing side by side in a concert at The Theatre at Solaire.

Two musical journeys will cross paths as they unfold at The Theatre at Solaire on September 22 and 23, 2018. Lani Misalucha and Morissette Amon are set to tell their stories in their concert entitled “A LaniMorissette– Musical Journey”, as they sing a medley of unexpected song choices that showcase their versatility, vocal range, and own style of performance.

Solaire, known for being a champion of Filipino artists, showcases the evolution of Original Pilipino Music (OPM). “Lani and Morissette are on different stages of their musical journey. Lani is at the pinnacle of her career while, Morissette is still venturing into hers.” says Audie Gemora, Solaire’s Director for Entertainment.

Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha moved to the United States in 2000 and began performing in various Las Vegas hotel and casino properties, gaining the name “New Siren of the Strip”. The veteran singer, reaching the high point of her Philippine success, made the bold move to spread her wings wider to only shine brighter under the City of Lights.

She is known by many for her high-octave vocal range, and iconic songs such as “Sana Dalawa Ang Puso Ko”, “Tunayna Mahal”, “Araw-Araw, Gabi-Gabi” and “BukasNalang Kita Mamahalin”. She is back for a short while to visit family and to fulfill commitments here in the Philippines. “I immediately said yes when I was presented this concert with Morissette.” she shares. “For me, she’s one of the most talented young Filipino artists right now. Aside from that, she’s really a wonderful person and I’m excited to work with her and for this project.”

The young Morissette Amon started in Cebu and made it to Manila’s rigorous talent shows where big voices dominate and are always in fierce competition. After countless attempts at victory, she rose from the ashes like a phoenix to claim her rightful place.

She recently reached a milestone with her first solo concert, “Morissette is Made” held at the Big Dome, and is now being toured around the world. She rose to stardom for her powerful vocal range catapulting her to become one of the country’s new generation of biriteras. “I wasn’t really sure what will happen after my concert, but I’m really grateful that I’ll be able to share the stage with Ms. Lani – one of the music icons I really look up to.” says Morissette. “I’m also very happy that we jive in so many ways. Not just in our singing style, but also our personalities.”

As for preparations, the two singers reveal where they are at in their respective careers. Being rather new under a bigger spotlight, Morissette admits that even though she has spent some time with Lani before, she still gets shy around her. “It’s important that when you’re collaborating with another artist, there is that rapport. I just tell myself that, ‘Sette, you can do this. Don’t be shy.’” Lani, on the other hand says that she will have to prepare physically to keep up with the 22-year old. “I don’t have the same stamina that I used to when I was younger, so I really need to prepare myself.”

An emotional Lani Misalucha shared some important advice to Morrisette Amon who continuously gains a lot of fame doing what show from the other plus hitting high notes and reaching her dreams. One of her advice is to always thank the Lord for all her blessings and never-ever forget to pray and give thanks. Morrisette on the other hand is very thankful that she will be working with no less than Ms. Lani Misalucha because she's been one of her idols ever since.

Despite the contrasts between both artists, they are on the same page when it comes to what they want their fans to experience. “We want to give them a show they’ll enjoy and remember. We included songs that we usually sing but, we also chose ones that aren’t expected for that surprise factor.” says Morissette. “After the concert, we want our fans to leave feeling good, and with them is the message that we want to convey: We all go through different journeys in life, but if we focus on the plans that we have, we can achieve them.” Lani adds.

Even if she’s had her share of Grammy trophies and triumphs, Billboard achievements, and a great number of popular ballads, Dionne Warwick humbly declares, "The word or label 'Diva' is an operatic term and I do not sing opera, therefore I cannot and do not accept being called as such."

She is revered as a singing legend and popular music icon, who to many of her admirers is gifted with a melodic and soulful voice. Her songs continue to touch the hearts of people who believe in romance, love, friendship, and forever.

On February 13 and 14, 2018 at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort and Casino, the charismatic chanteuse headlines a two-night concert.

"I've been to Manila several times...Manila audiences are wonderful, they have always seemed to enjoy my show," says the singing legend. For her Valentine concert, people will get to enjoy, "Songs I am expected to sing and a few surprises…it will just be two nights of wonderful musical evenings."

Be ready to be enthralled and mesmerized when you hear her famous songs such as “Don’t Make Me Over,” “Walk On By,” “Do You Know The Way to San Jose?,” “Alfie,” and “I’ll Never Love This Way Again” and other signature songs.

She shares, "All of my songs are close to my heart as they are like my children. The success of these songs; I attribute both to the wonderful composers and lyricists." What are the ingredients for a great song? Warwick replies, "Lyrics first, as I must believe in the words I sing, and of course, a memorable melody."

The musical icon has formed a long and successful partnership with songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Warwick ranks among the 40 biggest hit makers of the entire rock era, based on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Charts, with 56 of the legendary American singer’s singles making the Billboard Hot 100 between 1962 and 1998 and 80 singles making all Billboard charts combined.

For Bacharach, Warwick is "A woman who has a tremendously strong side and a delicacy when singing softly--- like miniature ships in bottles.”

Warwick received her first Grammy in 1968 for “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?” and her second in 1970 for “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again.” Under Arista Records, Warwick won the Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “I’ll Never Love This Way Again” and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Déjà Vu” in 1980. She became the first female artist in the history of the Grammys to win in two categories on the same year.

In 1985, Warwick contributed her voice to the multi-Grammy winning song “We Are The World” which also spent four consecutive weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. On the same year, she recorded the American Foundation for AIDS Research benefit song “That’s What Friends Are For” with Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Gladys Knight.

In a career that spans five decades, Dionne Warwick’s melodic and soulful voice remains unmatched.

To Bacharach, David and the multitude of people she had the pleasure of working with, Warwick enthuses, "I am forever grateful." An Evening with Pilita: The Theatre at Solaire

Pilita Corrales, Asia’s Queen of Song, icon and legend of the Philippine entertainment industry for the past 6 decades, goes on stage at 8 p.m. on November 17, 2017 at The Theatre at Solaire for “An Evening with Pilita”.

With Ms Corrales in the one-night-only concert will be the immensely popular AMP Band and the inimitable string section of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra with Mel Villena as musical director. The exceptional combination of musicians will provide the big band sound of the 50s and 60s and a taste of the classics.

The show will profile nuggets of time in Pilita’s life and career. She will be joined by her daughter Jackie Lou Blanco and son Ramon Christopher Gutierrez, both TV and motion picture personalities in their own right; her granddaughter Janine Gutierrez, and her old friends and colleagues in the industry Nikki Ross and Angie de la Cruz, better known as the Wing Duo.

Pilita started singing in Spanish as a host of the radio show “La Taberna” on KZPI. Her career took off in Australia where she became the first woman to top the Australian pop charts with a song called “Come Closer to Me.” She was the first artist signed up by Astor Records. There is even a street in Victoria named after her.

In the early 60's, Pilita was back in Manila to pursue a musical career in her home country. At the same time as she recorded albums in Spanish, English, Tagalog, and Cebuano, Pilita was signed up by ABS-CBN to host and star in a long-running television musical show called “An Evening With Pilita.”

Ms Corrales has performed locally and abroad with stars like Sammy Davis, Jr., the Beatles, Bob Hope, Pat Boone, Frank Sinatra, and Julie Andrews.

When asked how she feels about the much-anticipated November 17 concert, Pilita says: “It is exciting. I will be at The Theatre at Solaire, which is beautiful and the sound is world class.”

Pilita was given the well-deserved title “Asia’s Queen of Songs” when she became the first Filipino to win in an international music festival, named the Best Performer at the 1st Tokyo Music Festival in 1972.

She has received every award imaginable in the local music industry. All of these accolades and milestones in her colorful and celebrated life and career will be at the center of “An Evening With Pilita.- the concert. “

Carlo Orosa the show’s director explains: “We want to show a side of Pilita that a lot of the young people have not seen. She is the first Filipino singer to actually showcase the Filipino talent internationally. She is both an icon and a legend.”

Pilita is elated to be the next music icon to perform in The Theatre at Solaire’s continuing Icons Series after the sold-out and well-reviewed concerts of Basil Valdez and Celeste Legaspi. “The feeling is like you’re on cloud nine.”
